Laurie, the word *and* the attitude were inappropriate. You are not alone in feeling that. i think you have mis read the post.... and have not allowed for poor typing.... i do not think that the word intended was foul... gee, there is a movie out at the moment that with a slight mis-type or mis-speak would be absolutely terrible.... ----- Original Message ----- From: ~~Leslie~~ To: NYERIE-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Sunday, January 09, 2005 6:48 PM Subject: Re: [NYERIE] Language on the list Laurie, the word *and* the attitude were inappropriate. My god, I wasn't going to respond to this line but I figured I would chime in with my opinion while I still live in a free Take a hint from George Carlin's 7 dirty words..... There was nothing dirty or offensive with the post. Just like the infamous wardrobe malfunction from last year's superbowl, I was watching and didn't see it. I take offense to all of the religious rhetoric being crammed down my throat everywhere I turn. I was raised Catholic, I practice it, but very few people I don't want to know, know. This is similar. Ok, I was not going to chime in either but after reading a few of these posts I can't help myself. I COULD have been offended by Beth's comment about religious rhetoric crammed down throat ...BUT I am completely over it I am NOT writing this post because I am offended it. I am using it only to make a point. My point is we have no idea who is on the receiving end of our comments. Maybe we should all think before we start typing, no doubt we are a mixed group of who knows what all.. grandmothers, grandfathers, parents, children, Conservatives, liberals, students, retired folks, favorite child, black sheep, religious, atheists...you never know who is going to take something the wrong way. why not just focus on the subject that brought us together here and try to let everything else go. I read things I don't like and delete them and forget them, I don't a thing about Beth so I do not take offense to what she says at all because I don't know her. I am sure she is a fine person a! s is everyone on the list but Genealogy should be the hot topic here maybe we can back to some day.
