Is anyone on the list researching the LANG surname? I am looking for a Catharina Lang who married Anthony/Antoine Halter about 1849. He came with his family to Lancaster, NY in 1847 at the age of 22. There were 4 children born between 1850 and 1854, 3 died by 1855--records from St Marys Lancaster. There was one child, Elizabeth for whom there was no death record, born in 1852. I have never been able to find him on a census anywhere, but have records of his parents, and four siblings. While surfing Jo Daviess Co in western IL I found a record of a marriage between Anthony Halter and Mary Gross in 1862. I have a note from a cousin from many years ago that my great grandfather went to Galena, IL where a brother lived, and then to the UP of MI. I would like to find a record of Catherines' death in Erie Co. Thanks for any help. Grace
