Pat, If Robert STOHR died at Helmuth,NY it was probably a good indication that he was a resident at the Erie County Home for those who were mentally incompetent or otherwise needy. The home is no longer in operation it is now a minimum security residence. If he had family that saw to his burial you may come across an obituary in Buffalo or Gowanda which was the nearest town. Otherwise he may have been buried quietly in the institution's cemetery. A death certificate may be on file in Collins, New York. I had an address for the office but figuring I would no longer need it threw it out. Good luck with your search... I've never heard of Helmuth, NY, so I looked it up all over the place, didn't find it in print or online sources, and won't bore you with the details. Then I looked at Webster's New Geographic Dictionary (1988), where Helmuth is a cross reference to Gowanda, which housed the State Homeopathic Hospital.
