Now Russia but once part of Prussia. I'm so used to researching family members in English speaking regions I have shied away from digging into this family line. Do you have any thoughts on how to get started? I don't have a clue what the language would be....probably Russian??? I heard that most records were destroyed during the war(s). Of course,, Konigsberg is a very long way from Wurzburg and Regensburg, and I have absolutely no knowlede of that area, except for Leonard Euler's famous solution to the topological puzzle called the "Seven Bridges of Konigsberg. However, it is alwaya a good idea to look at the Family History Library's catalog. Just enter Konigsberg and Ostpreussen in the place search and you will find a treasure trove of material. As far as language is concerned, if your ancestors lived in the 19th century or earlier their language would have been German, and the records are likely in German, if they have survived. George
thank you George..........I'll keep digging Mike ----- Original Message ----- From: "George Richmond" <grichmon@gmail.com> To: "NYERIE list" <nyerie@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, March 14, 2010 2:38 PM Subject: [NYERIE] Konigsberg search > Michael Palozzi <mpalozzi@tampabay.rr.com> wrote: > > George......Your response to Paul's email got me thinking.
