    1. [NYERIE] census
    2. I was all set to copy -- but I am not sure why I would want to go to the trouble since besides my name, birth and how many people live here, all they are interested in is --if I am Hispanic. Since I live with so many illegals here in the Southwest, it will be interesting to see if they truly report how many people are in each house. It is quite clear they do not care where anyone was born. -----Original Message----- From: JanetB <janetbritton@att.net> To: nyerie@rootsweb.com Sent: Wed, Mar 17, 2010 9:43 am Subject: Re: [NYERIE] census LOL! I ran out, brought it in, tore apart the flap, copied it, it didn't come out well, copied it in COLOR (Duh!), came out good, taped the envelope seal (not very pretty) and returned it to the mailbox. 3. by original law the Census Bureau can not ask that question unless specifically directed by the Congress. One of the questions asked is about which Hispanic groupings if Hispanic. If the illegals send in their forms, you can bet one thing for sure, the shift of political power from the Northeast to south and west including the Southwest. 3. I had a friend a few years back Mexican born but has her citzenship, who told me than that the Mexicans in the Southwest were strategizing to take control and get their land back. I did some genealogy research on the ACOSTA surname. 3. >> I was all set to copy -- but I am not sure why I would want to go to >> the trouble since besides my name, birth and In regard to the census, and taking the time to copy it - it's not only for the info about yourself that you have to fill in, to save for descendants- but also for the form itself - the fact that it was mailed out to individuals, that we get delivered mail 6 days a week, the whole process- I just think it would be interesting in the future for people to see- After all, just your own handwriting might be interesting to them -it is already becoming a thing of the past! Tho this form doesn't ask for your handwriting, you do have to at least *print* your info - so you could put a little handwritten note with it, for your family files. I know when I found some handwriting of my grandfather [who died when my dad was young], it was a piece of him - it made me feel like I knew/had at least something about him. Just my feelings/opinions. Do what's right for you. I can already foresee the govt. going *paperless* in years to come ~ [we do income tax - couldn't they piggyback on that process?!] Linda

    3. I agree. Some people made such a big deal out of the census being too "invasive" - I guess if you have illegal aliens in the house, it's not invasive at all. I visitd a friend in Laredo, TX 10+ years go and there were paddy wagons driving through the neighborhoods that she said were looking for "illegals" which there could be a lot of so close to the border but I don't know exactly how they'd spot them as 99% of those who live there have dark hair and brown eyes. It would seem unless the illegal alien had committed a crime previously, they wouldn't be recognizable there. I have a very extensive genealogy with much more personal information in it than they asked for that my descendants can refer to that instead of the 2010 census.
