I've "rescued" an old photograph of Hattie L. SHERMAN which was taken at the S. E. Spaulding Studio in Springville, New York. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1860's or 1870's with Hattie likely in her teens or 20's at the time it was taken. Thanks to the assistance of a SHERMAN Family Researcher I was able to gather the following information regarding Hattie: Hattie L. SHERMAN b. 9 Sept 1855 in Clifton Springs, NY, married Frederick H. WIRTH on 26 Mar 1885. I am hoping to locate someone from her family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to the care of her family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
The only Catholic church in Lockport in 1830-1850s is St John the Baptist. their records may be available via LDS church. Ned Schimminger

Try contacting the Niagara County Genealogical Society, the information is on their website: http://www.niagaracounty.org/genealogical_society_home.htm My maternal line Craine, Blackley, and Flanders are from Lockport and have found the volunteers extremely helpful. On their website click "About Research" for details on lookups. The 1840 census shows a Thomas Tobin Living in Lockport. Both he and his wife are in their 20's and two daughters are between 0-10. There are no other children shown. Of course this is a lovely census, so informative. I sus pect he was Irish and born in Ireland. Therefore I am assuming that the family attended a Catholic church. (if they attended at all). I am stymied. Can anyone think of another route to follow to track this man/family. I believe he may be a great great great grandfather. In 1860 there is a Thomas Tobin living in Monroe County, Rochester. There would appear to be two older girls but perhaps a new wife with younger children now showing. Wife #1 may have died and he remarried. I am open to any and all suggestions. Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer. I am aware of at least 2 Evangelical Reformed Cemeteries at Pine Hill: Zion Cemetery - records were held by a helpful parishioner up until about 5 years ago - no longer the case - not sure what happened - posibly deceased. Records are now at the church - Zion United Church of Christ now located in a Buffalo suburb - Tonawanda I believe. I have found several graves in this cemetery that are NOT found in the church records by the church staff. St John's - owned and run by St John's Church - the office there is very helpful. Mt Hope Cemetery (I do not think there is a 'New Hope' Cemetery at Pine Hill) : records and cemetery were kept by the Rapin Funeral Home up until 10 to 20 yrs ago. Last I knew, Rapin merged with another funeral home and they assumed a hyphenated name - Rapin being the second half, so they are not listed under Rapin - Ned Schimminger
Sara, Your showing an address in NC but talking abt a cemetery in Cheektowaga (Pine Hill is area of Cheektowaga) Are you talking about St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery on Pine Ridge and Sugar roads in Cheektowaga (suburb of Buffalo)?? If so, the records are in possession of St. John's Lutheran Church in Williamsville, NY or might be listed as Amherst NY. Same place.
