Thanks for the compliment I like it too, there aren't too many around, more popular during the 50s I think due to the comic strip..... Anna Margaret Groll was her married name. Gloeckner was her maiden name. She was born about 1811 in Freimersheim and married Johannes Groll in Bavaria in 1833 and then after her husband died she followed her son Jacob Groll, to Amherst. She was living with her son at the time of her death. We have every person on the North American part of the family tree except her and next year we are planning a huge family reunion and really want to know where she is hiding. Thanks. In response to: " Did the records go with the burials and are they on line for we people with ties to the community but foot prints going in every direction?" Seek and ye may find. No one will do a complete search for you except a paid genealogist. If you are extraordinarily luck you might find someone who can quickly access info they have but in most instances you are on a solitary journey. Enjoy the journey for the destination may be a disappointment. I have consolidated the many recent posts and links. Titled them and checked that they are all working as of 6/18/2010. Well here is another one for the list. http://members.tripod.com/~wnyroots/index-town-data.html This will give you the cemeteries for the towns of Alden, Amherst, Aurora, Boston, Brant, Buffalo, Cheektowaga, Clarence, Colden, Collins, Concord, Eden, Elma, Evans, Grand Island, Hamburg, Holland, Lackawanna, Lancaster, Marilla, Newstead, North Collins, Orchard Park, Sardinia, Tonawanda, Wales, West Seneca, and other important stuff. Then there is www.BuffaloResearch.com with various links. Just in case you are thinking Skinnerville Cemetery, remember several smaller cemeteries were relocated there and they are Bondcroft Cemetery formerly at Bondcroft Dr. and Main St., Community Cemetery at Main Street at Eggert Rd., Eggert Road Cemetery behind 1317 Main St., formerly adjacent to St. Benedict's R. C. church, Eggertsville cemetery, formerly behind the Brick Church on Main St. between Ivyhurst Road and Koster Row, Free Church Cemetery at Ivy Hurst Rd., nad Koster Row, Little Brick Church & Cemetery at Ivy Hurst Road and Koster Row, Resting Place also at Ivy Hurst Rd., and Koster Row and Union church and Cemetery at the same location. I understand the frustration of trying find someone who seems to have vanished into thin air. My great, great grandmother Anna Margaret Groll died sometime between the state census of 1875 and federal census of 1880 in Amherst, NY. Have done all the logical cemeteries and churches in the area closest to upper Sweethome Rd., and across into Pendleton, but no luck. As everyone knows cemetery records and burial records are two different things and some churches have lost their burial records, oh joy. We have also not found a death notice or obit for her. I think that near the end of her life she called herself Margaret Groll, but who knows. Good luck and if you stumble across Margaret let me know. Thanks. Cemeteries in existance in 1840 included new St. Louis RC cemetery in use from 1832 to 1859 when the United German & French cemetery opened. It was set off from the Potter's Field between North and Best Streets also dating from 1832 to 1859. With the exception of Catholic burials, most early Buffalo cemeteries were removed to the new Forest Lawn Cemetery located at Delaware and Delevan Avenues, about 1851.

Sorry, my question was more about sources. The family did not stay in the Buffalo area, but moved on to Ohio. The family name is Greenhalgh, given name William. He died in October of 1840. Thank you for allowing me to join your list. I am researching a man who died while travelling on the Hudson from the port of New York City to Buffalo. A journal of a fellow traveler indicates the man died en route to Buffalo, was examined by the coroner there, and interred. No mention is made of where he was interred. I am having trouble finding any cemeteries that date to 1840/1841 in the area. In addition do coroner's inquests date from this time as well? Thank you, Christy Fillerup
