Hello Everyone, Looking at the maps that I have, I cannot tell to any degree of certainly in which county Wolcottsville, NY lies. I have been given the impression that it may be right where Erie, Niagara, Orleans, and Genesee counties meet. I will appreciate any help I can get in trying to determine the correct county for this town since I want to try to obtain information (from the county records) which pertain to Wolcottsville. My research revolves around the AMES who moved to Evans in 1820/1821. John AMES and Susan GATES moved to Evans from Massachusetts and had at least 4 children: Emeline AMES who married ABNER DEWEY Henry AMES John T. AMES (sailor on Lake Erie) Asa AMES - was a wood sculptor whose works are in many museums. He is buried in the Pioneer Cemetary in Angola. John & Henry moved west after the 1840s.
