    3. Many thanks. I had already checked out these sites and they're very interesting. My father was a chemist for Allied Signal and had grown up on Maurice St., just a couple blocks away. My great grandfather lived on Babcock, a few blocks behind Maurice. I'm intrigued with my Great grandfather's occupation. I was wondering if anyone would mind checking the Buffalo City Directory for 1891 and let me know if there is such a company as Buffalo Chemical Company and its address. The 1891 article, speaks of an accident my great grandfather had, falling off a wagon he was operating. He was taken to No. 7 Station and attended by Dr. E. J. Murphy and removed to Finch Hospital. It would be great if some one could tell me about the station and where the hospital was located. I live in Connecticut and it's a bit difficult to get to your great collection in the Buffalo Erie County Public Library. Many thanks, Cindy ---------- >From: Roots Webmaster <roots@bfn.org> >To: NYERIE-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: Re: [NYERIE] Teamster, Buffalo Chemical Company >Date: Sun, Jan 16, 2005, 2:24 PM > > > National Aniline Co. was originally named Schoellkopf Aniline Co. They settled in Erie County Ohio soon afterwards and finally emigrated to Cuyahoga Co. OH in about 1873. 3. Here's the rub I already have all as listed by USGS linked. It's those that are marked "Cem" or cross, even "grave" on the USGS maps - which can be seen at http://www.topozone.com/ The problem? http://members.tripod.com/~wnyroots/index-cheektowaga.html Not all listed cemeteries are listed in USGS and they dont' give exact location to link to the maps shown at topozone.com (USGS is linked to topozone) same with the other sites http://rootserie.tripod.com/index1-chkg-united-cem.html Robert Ziegler http://nedschim0.tripod.com/tonaroots/index.html Ned Schimminger http://members.tripod.com/~wnyroots/index-buffalo.html http://members.tripod.com/~wnyroots/index-index.html http://www.interment.net/data/us/ny/niagara/bearridge/bear.htm http://www.bfn.org/~roots/local.htm#Cemetery http://members.tripod.com/~wnyroots/index-amherst-willsa-cem.html Like Valentine said: the effort is not one person's, it is everybody's to help locate and identify those un-named cemeteries as marked on maps. You can go direct to: http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnis/web_query.gnis_web_query_form and type in town, county and state then click through to Topozone and look all over the area you are familiar with. If you find those marked "Cem", cross or "grave" and you know the name of that place, notify me so I can notify the USGS. It takes the USGS about a month to investigate and make corrections, or updates to the database. Eventually in future updates to the maps will show all named cemeteries. Yes, there are "unnamed" cemeteries within City of Buffalo! Like that one near Riverside Park. 3. That is not helpful at all, I need EXACT location. "Near" is not sufficent. There are many "Cem" marked on USGS-Topozone maps and they are not named. Only you who are familiar with the cemeteries in the area can tell exact what cemetery names they are before I can notify the USGS to add the names to their database. They already recognized the additional cemeteries as of 11 Jan 2005 North Evans Mols Hill Powers Skinnersville Shope and in Allegany County Allentown West Almond Canaserage Christ Church Caneadea East Caneadea (aka German Methodist Church) Centerville Nile and Briggs with variant name State Line (straddling Allegany Co NY/Potter Co PA. There are many unidentified and marked "Cem" shown on USGS maps throughout New York David Samuelsen Zona I Himmelsbach wrote: > > see #10 http://members.tripod.com/~wnyroots/index-cheektowaga.html > Zona > On Sun, 16 Jan 2005 16:55:08 -0700 W David Samuelsen <dsam@sampubco.com> > writes: > >>Do anyone know what happened to Bethel Cemetery that was located on >>Fillmore Avenue between Broadway Street and Sycamore Street in >>Buffalo? >> >>It is not showing up on topozone USGS map >> >>B'rith Shalom Cemetery - where is it in Buffalo? >> >>David Samuelsen - New York Tombstone Project Coordinator > > >
