The Hamburg Fairgrounds are in Hamburg. It is the site of the Erie County Fair. I believe it's the oldest county fair in the country. I am searching for more info. about Dan & his wife Ebba. I cannot locate them on any census records & I think that they both probably died in Erie Co.in the late 1940's/ early 1950's & are probably buried in the county. They owned a restaurant & night club called the Shamrock Inn on River Road near Tonawanda in the 1940's. I think the restaurant was originally named "Grandma's Kitchen". I am looking for a church birth record in the vicinity of Lancaster, NY. I know that the religion was not Catholic, however, uncertain of the exact denomination. The record of birth is in 1850. Would someone on the list have knowledge of an existing church or source to contact in this area. Thank You, Gary Kress
I would expect that Dutch Reformed Church members would most likely have associated with Presbyterian Church in Western New York area. The first Presbyterian church in the Tonawandas area began in 1852 and is appropriately named First Presbyterian Church, still in existance today - located on Broad St in City of Tonawanda. I would suggest contacting them to see if they have a record of your Caldwells. Ned Schimminger

Unfortunately, I'm Catholic and know of the Catholic parishes in the Tonawandas. Not sure about churches of those denominations in the other Tonawandas. I know of Lutheran churches in NT. Not sure how old they might be. An historical book was put together at the time of NT's centennial back in 1997. I'll see if there's anything about the churches from that time in what is now NT.
