    3. ***I stand corrected... you are right that ILL can be used to borrow reels of microfilm, and some libraries may charge for doing this. I had the impression that the person was expecting ILL to provide copies of the articles, but I may have been mistaken about that. I said what I did because we often get requests like this: "I need a copy of the obituary of my great-grandfather. He died in 1898 in Chicago." We have to explain to them that they first need to work with a Reference Librarian to identify the newspapers from Chicago covering that time period, and then request reels of a specific title--or if they want just a copy of the obit, to either get a citation or specify the exact date. Sorry I wasn't clearer. 3. Hi Anne, The SEIS and KLEINDIENST families are no relation to me. I was looking for a mysterious possible relative - Fritz GUNTHER - in Rochester and came across Coroner Henry KLEINDIENST. He appeared almost daily in news items from 1888 till his death in 1917. I became fascinated with his career and so started studying. Got more information on him than Fritz, who remains a mystery. Many thanks for looking. I guess the family must around somewhere. 3. Hi Ann, Thanks for looking. Maybe they weren't in Buffalo in 1860 - I don't know. As far as I'm aware Margaret had two children - Charles by her first husband - Mr. SEIS - and Libbie by Jacob in 1870. Not sure what happened to Libbie but no further record of her. In 1880 only Jacob, Magaret (Maggie) and Henry are recorded on the Rochester census, so I guess she died. I have been told that after Jacob's death in 1889, Margaret moved back to Buffalo where she was living with Charles in 1910 but I don't have any further details. When she died, she was taken back to Rochester and buried together with Jacob and Louisa (from Jacob's first marriage, I presume) in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Strangely enough SKS couldn't find Jacob KLEINDIENST on the 1860 Census neither. Thanks again. 2. Charles
    3. Hi Lister, I am reasonably sure now that a Margaret SEIS or SIES lived in Buffalo, Erie, before marrying Jacob KLEINDIENST of Rochester, Monroe. Her son, Charles F. SEIS or SIES, was born in about 1852 and, if calculations are right, Margaret married Jacob between 1860 and 1869. So there may be a family SEIS (SIES) in Buffalo on the 1860 Census - wife Margaret and a son Charles, aged about 8. Would SKS please look this up for me? Best wishes, Charles

Hi, I'm not in Buffalo so I cannot help you there, but you may want to know that the New York State Public Library in Albany has an ongoing Newspaper Project in which they are filming old NYS Newspapers and making these films available for interlibrary loan. Your library should be able to get them for you. To find the call numbers for the Erie County Films go to: _http://www.nysl.nysed.gov/nysnp/115.htm_ (http://www.nysl.nysed.gov/nysnp/115.htm) If your library cannot get the films for you with this information, perhaps the problem lies with them. I hope this helps you, Joe Endicott, NY

Thankfully, once you're within the 716 area code, you need only dial the 7-digit number, but for out-of-towners planning their trips, the area codes will help them call for more info if needed. Jillaine, FYI, Looked over your list of things to do in Buffalo etc. You might add that the older immigration/naturalization info is in the basement of the county court building on index cards and also ledgers with same info. Not much info but better than nothing. You can do your own lookups, just ask someone to direct you to the basement. Kevin
