Actually you order it once and renew it twice. It is not permanently stored. It is stored indefinitely depending on the particular center's storage capabilities. Make sure you look for one in the phone book that has a Family History Center. Not all LDS churches (a church is a stake comprised of wards??) have Family History Centers. If this is correct, you need to go to a local Family History Center (check you phone book for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to locate one) to order the microfilms. They usually charge about $3.25 and the films will be available for your use at the FHC on their viewers for several weeks (ours keeps them for 4 weeks). Nancy, Call the local LDS churches in your locale and ask if they have a genealogy research room. Once you go there you can order the microfilm/microfiche, which takes about 2 weeks for them to get them. Then go back to read the rented film/fiche; I think you get to read them for 2 weeks, where they are stored in drawers there. When that particular one has been ordered they get to store them permanently at that locale. I found some microfilms pertaining to Erie County alien applications and declarations on the FHS web site, and wondered how I go about viewing them/ordering them? I don't have a viewer. My ancestor emigrated in 1846 and was naturalized in 1848. Or otherwise, how do I go about finding records in the county clerks office? Nancy Hanes __________________________________ Yahoo! You can check the New York State Archives. There is a section that has information on the correctional facilities in NYS. I recently found one of my relatives listed as an inmate at Elmira in the 1920's census. I contacted the archives to see if I could get prison records for him ( I know that he died in 1958), but they told me that they do not release the admissions records until 75 yrs. after the death of the person. However they do have Biographical registers and receiving blotters. Unfortunately, I would have to go to Albany to research it. Good luck! Christine
