    3. I found the following (see link below) I thought to be of interest to you; Milan was largely a farming and mill town giving birth to its name today. Known by many as the "Mill Lands" for its rolling farmland and numerous gristmills. Milanville -- Location of the "Milan" Post Office from 1818 to 1908 and located at the junction of Salisbury Turnkpike and Milan Hollow Road this area is now known as "Case's Corner" after Rensselaer Case. Sources: US Federal Census Records; "History of Dutchess County New York," James H. Smith, 1882, D. Mason & Co. publisher; "History of Little Nine Partners," Issac Huntting, 1897. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milan,_New_York Hope this helps you, Ro Milan Paddock <milanpaddock@sbcglobal.net> wrote: I had some relatives in the area named Milan - that's how I got my name. 3. Dear Ro, Very interesting! Renselaer Case was a merchant, I find in Smith's History after reading your reply. My ancestor was Renselaer Case Worden b. 1841, and he lived in Milan. His father was Samuel Montross Worden. Do any of these names mean anything to you? Do you have any idea why my ancestor would have been named for this Renselaer Case? Thanks!
