I am new to these boards. For some reason, I did not get an alert on your post. I REALLY appreciate your posts because thye contain so much info and are written like a short story. Here is the sequence I am pieceing together. 1) Balthasar, Sophie, Lorenz, Katharina, Elizabeth, Apollonia, Maria Eva, and Apolonia's 15 month old (10/27/1853) daughter, Elizabeth all arrive in NYC on the Ophir on February 16th, 1855. The ship's manifest lists Elizabeth as 9 months old. 2) Maria Eva marries Adam Schaad on July 27th, 1856 at St. Joseph's Church, Rochester 3) Elizabeth marries Matthias Brandt on September 20th, 1856 at St. Joseph's Church, Rochester 4) Apollonia marries Phillip Schaad (Adam's brother) in 1858 at St. Joseph's Church, Rochester Apollonia and Phillip have a child Catherina, born in Rochester August 20th, 1859 5) Apollonia (age 25) dies October 31st, 1859 in Rochester. Her Daughter, Catherina dies December 4th, 1859 in Rochester 6) Balthasar, Sophie, Lorenz, and Apollonia's daughter, Elizabeth are in the Poughkeepsie for the July 21st, 1860 US Census 7) Adam and Maria "S(h)aat" are also in Poughkeepsie 1860 US Census with 3 children, Abbey (5), Matthew (3) and Adam (10 months) 8) Katharina Ramstetter is listed as godparent for Lorenz daughter Katharina, baptized August 14th, 1867 **** Dan, add/correct the sequence as you see fit. I have tons of questions. Barbara Ramstetter Argus was born May 11th, 1819. Do you have her in a US immigration or census record? I can find nothing on Elizabeth & Mathias Brandt after their marraige. Did they stay in Rochester? It seems that Elizabeth would have been with her Mother and Philip in ROchester in October & December of 1859. And in Pok July of 1860 -- Had to make the move during that 6 months period. Hanno indicates that Philip was born 02/16/1826 and I have an immigration record that matches. In the 1870 US Census, a Philip Schaad is listed as 37 years old. Is he the same person who married Apollonia? Any additional info on Katharina? She seems to not get married , but also disappears. All for now , Jack Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
