Matthias Burgess, residing in Poughkeepsie when he wrote his will but formerly of Southeast, died about 1784. I don't know when his wife, Dorcas Cole Burgess, died, but she was mentioned in his will. His son, Thomas Burgess, died in 1786, and perhaps he was buried in the same cemetery; he resided in Ulster county at the time of his death but I haven't found him in any cemetery there. The family probably was a member of Rev. Kent's congregation in Southeast, but I don't know where Matthias was a member in Poughkeepsie. Can anyone tell me a likely cemetery for Congregatonalists/Presbyterians in the 1780s? I've looked at a lot of gravestone books without any luck.
