    1. Re: [NYDUTCHE] Family of John AIKIN (or AKIN) and Mary Elizabeth WEDELL
    2. Robert Akin
    3. The Akin family that lived on Quaker Hill is extensively documented in the family tree at www.akinfamilyhistory.com. Feel free to browse. I would be happy to try to help anyone doing research on this family. However, I cannot connect this John Akin and EIizabeth Wedell to the Quaker Hill Akin family. I also searched the census records for him and found the records cited in the original query [1850 and 1860]. They show the following children for this family: James, William, Rebecca, Robert B, Ebenezer, John H. and Adaline. However, after 1860, they seem to disappear except that I found William Akin living in Newfame, Niagara, NY in 1870 and an Eben[ezer?] Aikins living in Poughkeepsie, Dutchess, NY also in 1870. There is a John and Mary living in Lockport, Niagara County in 1870, but the dates do not match very well, and they show Ireland as their birthplace whereas the 1850 and 1860 census list New York. Unfortunately, I cannot find any of them in the 1880 census. Sorry I am not much help. ----- Original Message ---- From: Grandma and Grandpa <bdenno1@verizon.net> To: nydutche@rootsweb.com Sent: Thursday, September 4, 2008 12:59:20 PM Subject: Re: [NYDUTCHE] Family of John AIKIN (or AKIN) and Mary Elizabeth WEDELL I have Benjamin Akin in Pawling, Dutchess Co. in 1753, but since this is not the surname that I am researching, I do not have his parents. I do have two of his children (William Hawley Akin and Justis H. Akin), but not others. According to my information, William was born on Quaker Hill in Dutchess Co., but Justis was born 20 years later in Rensselaer County. I have that both of these men died in Johnsonville, Rensselaer Co. Good Luck.
