Thanks for trying. Samuel West's death notice regarding any money owed to people was in the newspaper published July 1831, in The Albany Argus. I will keep searching. The fact that Margaret's mother took her family into Saratoga, NY May 1788 hints that I should be looking there too. Father Valentine Jenkins took off to VT in 1788 to escape jail for not paying his debts...that is the data found on the story of his dau. Hannah Jenkins Barnard. One of the main reasons he got disowned by the Oblong M.M. in 1789 besides leaving the area without permission This research has been stalled for 18 years. No clues until that DNA match of 36 out of 37 markers showed up Dec 2007. I had been searching the wrong West line for 18 years, no wonder I could never find a connection. thanks again fran in mi -----Original Message----- From: Bob & Dee Carroll <bobdee@westelcom.com> To: nydutche@rootsweb.com Sent: Sat, 26 Jan 2008 10:55 am Subject: Re: [NYDUTCHE] Dutchess Co [Quakers] On Jan 25, 2008, at 11:42 PM, : swftotter@aol.com wrote in part: > Samuel West b. abt 1760 m. about 1789 Margaret Jenkins ( disowned by > Oblong M.M. 12-14-1789 for her marriage)? , dau of Valentine Jenkins, > Sr of Dover, Dutchess Co NY ...Valentine was Baptist before becoming > Quaker in 1761...Sam was in St. Albins VT in 1790? and so was > Margaret's brother Valentine Jr...
