Hello Tom, My knowledge of my ancestral Palmer folk is very limited. All that is known is that a widow Mary Palmer (married name), my 4ggm, left Dutchess County at the end of the American Revolution with her son Marcus and her second husband William Lawrence. What became of her first husband, father of Marcus, is now known with any certainty. There is a bit of oral history that Marcus' father was killed in a duel, but this is taken with a very large grain of salt. This certainly doesn't help with your query, but I too have been trying for years to make a link with these Palmers from Dutchess County. I did find a reference to a Mary Palmer marrying a William Lawrence on Long Island shortly before the 1783 exodus, so it's possible that he was never in Dutchess County.
