    1. Re: [NYDUTCHE] Duchess Co, NY Reply - Early Marriages in Dutchess County
    2. Hi Fran You mention Baptist Marriages prior to 1790. There appears to be a number of microfilms of Marriages prior to 1790 in Dutchess County in various churches and some by Justice of Peace. I would not limit the search to Baptist and would review any records available for that period. You might want to contact the NEHGS and have their Archivist check the R Stanton Avery Special Collections (manuscripts) that collection has some early Dutchess County Records from a Baptist minister. It might help to give the name of your Ancestors and any other information (Maiden name, parents and etc.) that you have. Someone else might be researching the same family and have information available. I have a number of books, old journals and etc with early Dutchess County Marriages listed, but I would need a name to look for. Regards Pat R

    2. Wow, thank you for that information. I am looking for the marriage of two brothers: Samuel West b. abt 1760 m. Margaret Jenkins of Dover, Dutchess Co NY abt 1789 ,? she was disowned by the Oblong M.M. 12-14-1789 for the marriage. Margaret's father Valentine Jenkins Sr was Baptist when he came to Dutchess Co NY , He became a Quaker in 1761. Margaret's uncle Philip Jenkins was s Baptist Minister in RI. Sam's brother William Barber West b. 1755-1765 m. Abigail about 1787...I have a disownment of a Abigail Jenkins in 3-12-1787 also a dau. of Valentina Jenkins Sr....she just might be William's wife. Not unreasonable to have brothers marry sisters. These two have been my "brick wall" for over 18 years. New DNA results of a line out of Onondaga Co Ny? is "suggesting"? a connection to the? line of William West b. 1717 Windsor, Hartford Co CT, that settled in Hillsdale, Columbia Co NY .we think these two brothers are from a brother or cousin of William b 1717. I did check the online catalog at the LDS and could not find film of Dutchess Co Ny...I may have to look again. Thanks again for the info. We just might plan a trip to Dutchess Co this coming summer.
