Y., do make, publish and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, viz.: First: I direct the payment of my funeral expenses and of all my just debts. Second: I give, devise and bequeath to my wife Margaret Kimlin all my real and personal estate during her life, she to have the management, use and control thereof, with full power to lease, mortgage and sell and convey the same - to use the income for her support - and if said income is not sufficient for her comfortable support and maintenance then to use whatever portion of the principal may be necessary for such purpose. Upon her death, I give, devise and bequeath all the remainder then left of my said estate to my children viz: James Kimlin, Thomas Kimlin, Robert T. Kimlin, Benjamin C. [or E. ?], Richard C. William H. Mary E., Maggie and John C. Kimlin to be divided among them equally. In case of the death of either or any of my said children before the death of my said wife, then upon the death of my said wife, the share which said deceased child (or children) would have had in said remainder if he, or she had lived, shall go to his or her lawful issue and lineal descendants per stirpes. But if said deceased child (or children) leave no lawful issue or lineal descendants surviving my said wife, then the share or shares of said deceased shall be divided equally among my children then surviving. Third: I hereby nominate nad appoint my two sons Robert T. Kimlin and Richard C. Kimlin to be the Executors of this instrument - to carry out the provisions hereof relating to the division of my estate upon the death of my wife. Kimlin 17 Oct. 1881 Robert Kimlin, a resident of the Town of Poughkeepsie d. 17 June 1881 at the Town of Poughkeepsie. he left him surviving. His widow Margaret and his children James Kimlin Thomas Kimlin Benjamin C. [or E?] Kimlin Wm H. Kimlin Mary E. Kimlin Maggie Kimlin and John C.. Kimlin and your petitioner and his co-executor Richard C. Kimlin his only children & Heirs at law & next of kin him surviving. All residing in said town of Po'keepsie except Benj. C. [or E ?] who resides at Cherry Valley, Ill. All said children are unmarried except James whose wife's name is Mary J. Kimlin, all are of full age except Mary E. Maggie and John C. who are minors over 14 years of age and neither of which have any general guardian. And that there is no other person entitled to any interest in said estate to the knowledge or belief of your petitioner. -------------------------------- Not my family but came across this while researching the Kimlin Cider Mill in Poughkeepsie. Not sure exactly how Robert was related to the Cider Mill Kimlins but I have the distinct felling he was. ---------------------------------- Poughkeepsie Journal Page 2D Sunday May 4, 1969 RALPH KIMLIN DIES at 82; WAS WELL-KNOWN SPORTSMAN Ralph Richard Kimlin died Saturday at the age of 81, after a long illness. Born in a 200 year-old building at the end of Cedar Avenue and Cider Mill Road, Town of Poughkeepsie, Mr. Kimlin lived in the homestead all of his life. Mr. Kimlin had a museum in his home. A cider mill which he operated is located nearby. An avid collector, he had gathered some 100,000 items, most of them Americana, for his museum. Generally regarded as one of the county's best athletes, he enjoyed participating in all sports over a 45 year period. An outstanding baseball player, he also excelled at football, ice hockey, wrestling and golf. Mr. Kimlin was educated at Poughkeepsie High School and the Eastman Business College. While in high school he was an outstanding football player. He played on the 1907 team that won the Hudson Valley championship. >From 1918 to 1924 he captained the YMCA baseball team, which boasted some of the county's finest players. He also won the YMCA wrestling crown on three different occasions during that period. In 1967, Mr. Kimlin was honored for his part in establishing the Basketball Hall of Fame at the YMCA. Born in 1887, he was the son of the late Richard James and Marsha Matilda Kimlin. He was married to the former Laura Augusta Furstenow, who survives. He is also survived by a son, Ralph Robert, and a daughter, Mrs. Marsha Richter, both of Poughkeepsie, and four grandchildren. Funeral Services, under the direction of Schoonmaker Funeral Home, will be conducted at Christ Church at 2 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Rhys Williams officiating. Burial will be in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
