She was born Apr 24, 1824 in Sandwich, Barnstable, MA. She married, first, GEORGE H. BEARSE. They moved from MA to New York City about 1853. He died there in 1860 but was interred back in MA. She remarried in 1862 to DEWITT CLINTON HALL in NYC. He was the son of DR. ASAHEL HALL and CATHERINE RUTSEN VANDERBURGH. Dewitt and Arethusa lived in NYC until about 1872 when it appears they relocated, at least temporarily, to Poughkeepsie. I suspect she was ill and in the care of her father-in-law who practiced medicine in Poughkeepsie. She died at the home of Dr. Hall on Feb. 13, 1872. The question is: Where is she buried? Her parents and her 1st husband are buried in Hyannis, Barnstable, MA. Most of her siblings (of which there were 12) relocated to the New York City area in the 1850 and are probably buried around NYC, yet she died in Dutchess Co. When her 2nd husband died in Norwalk, CT 42 years later, he was reportedly interred in Poughkeepsie. So, she could be buried around Poughkeepsie, or around NYC, or back in Massachusetts. A death certificate or record would probably indicate where she was to be interred but I haven't seen any indication that Dutchess Co. kept such records prior to 1882 (or later). I have seen cemetery transcriptions for many of the Dutchess Co. cemeteries online but there must be more, or they are not complete, since I haven't been able to locate any graves for any members of this Hall family, who I am confident must be buried in either the Poughkeepsie or Fishkill area. I have death notices for both Arethusa (Arathusa) and Dewitt from the New York Times but nothing from any local papers. Can anyone please help?
