This Smith would be a female who married an Andrus or Andrews or Andress. I estimate her date of birth at 1720 - 50, and the whole bunch of them probably came to Dutchess Co. via Connecticut. Son of this Smith/Andrews pair was William Andrus who married Lydia Palmer b. 1772 in Dutchess Co. There are no Smiths in Lydia Palmer's heritage. Obviously this is a lot of guesswork on my part, but eventually a child comes along who is named Smith Joshua Andrus...
