Hello, I am new to the list. I have a Husted family that I am tracking. This family showed up in Viriginia about 1770 (served in Lord Dunsmore's War of 1774, for instance). The prevailing opinion is that they are the children of John Husted, b. 1731 of Dutchess County, NY (DAR records). I do not believe that John, b. 1731 started having a family when he was 16/17 in the wilds of Virginia; therefore, I am trying to find other families from the Dutchess County, New York area that might have migrated down to Virginia in this time period so we can compare notes. The other issue is that another group of Husteds claim this John to be their parent (the Michigan Husteds). The DNA on a male on my line has been tested - and we might be related to the NJ clan - but I have not been able to hook up to any NJ people. It is also possible that the 5-6 people that I have listed below as a family = MIGHT be cousins who traveled together??? Here is the information that I have: unknown Husted father, b. abt 1725 (I made up a family to keep these people together) unknown wife POSSIBLE children of this couple: 1. Moses Husted, b. 1748, unknown place, died in Harrison, Virginia 2. Gilbert Husted, b. abt 1749, unknown place, died in Kentucky or Indiana 3. Robert Husted, b. 1755, unknown place, died in Fayette, Pennsylvania (Harrison and Fayette started out as same county, before lines were clearly defined between VA, PA, OH, etc.) 4. John Husted, b. 1748, unknown place, died in Montgomery, Indiana - THIS IS MY DIRECT LINE 5. Ann Husted, b. abt 1760, unknown place, died in possibly Fayette, Pennsylvania, where she and her husband lived. 6. Possibly Joseph Husted, b. abt 1765, unknown place, died possibly in Clark County, Ohio. (Was there in 1830 census in Bethel Township, with my John) I have not done much research in Dutchess County records YET (besides the Beekman Patent records). Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am willing to share all my genealogy notes. Kathie -- M. Kathleen Felsted mkfelsted@gmail.com
