    3. Such as it is, yes. The NYS archives is located at the NYS Library in Albany. They have a statewide microfiche index of births marriages, and deaths. Unfortunately, although the state required it beginning in 1880, you won't see a lot of marriage records until about 1885-6, because that's when most towns got around to doing it. You might get lucky if your 82-84 marriage occurred in a town that was an "early adopter" but it's pretty iffy. Sorry that the answer isn't more positive. 3. Thanks Well as I am in Virginia is their access to the index online. Most likely the marriage took place in New York City between June 10, 1882 and Dec 1883. Some other states have records like this online where you can do search on the name and locate the record to order it. Do you have to go thru every location in NY to search and do you know of any one that does lookups. thanks Fred > -----Original Message----- > From: nydutche-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:nydutche- > bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Max Ward > Sent: Thursday, July 24, 2008 10:35 PM > To: nydutche@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [NYDUTCHE] NY marriages > > Such as it is, yes.
