    2. Hi listers, For those of you who might not know.... you can search back to 1999 in the Poughkeepsie Journal obituaries _http://pojonews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/classifieds?Category=OBITS_ (http://pojonews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/classifieds?Category=OBITS) I have noticed not all obits stay in the archives, I figured this out when my husband's and mother-in-law's obit are no longer there. It is still a good place to start before contacting the library to do an obit lookup. _http://poklib.org/_ (http://poklib.org/) Judy Wolf **************************************Check out AOL's list of 2007's hottest products. 1. Re: [NYDUTCHE] Risk in East Fishkill
    2. Hi Sandra, I looked at the records of the Hopewell Reformed Church in Hopewell Junction, East Fishkill and found that John S. Risk and Jean C. Risk became members on September 2, 1909. They transfered their membership from some other church. There is also an entry that John died September 14, 1925. If you would like to send me the picture of the house, I will try to find out where it is as I live in East Fishkill. Also, do you know if he is buried in the Hopewell Cemetery? If he is and you would like a picture of the gravestone I would try to get that to you. Lucia (paulucia@frontiernet.net)

    1. [NYDUTCHE] RISK family
    2. Sandra Lindsay
    3. I am trying again to find anything on the Risk family of Hopewell or East Fishkill. They were of Scottish descent and would have attended a Protestant church. James Risk moved from Canada in 1880 but I am not sure exactly when he arrived in Dutchess County. He is listed in the 1910 Census along with his brother John & niece Jean who had joined him from Canada. None of them married and none were buried in Dutchess County. James is listed as a stock farmer in the 1910 Census and has Joseph Weber & Rose Weber listed as house servants. By the 1920 Census James is not listed but I had a family date of death and cemetery stone date of 1924. I was able to find John's Dutchess County death registration from the family year of death of 1925 which gives his address as Hopewell. It says he emigrated in 1907 which agrees with the census information for him and Jean. The death registration lists the informant as Miss Campbell, Hopewell Junction. Joseph Coborn's name was also on there as the doctor. The undertaker was R.? S.? (looks like Roosa & Schwelnir) of Fishkill. The Risk address was Front Street East Fishkill on the 1910 Census and Highway Landing from _ to _ (can't read it) East Fishkill on the 1920 Census. By the 1930 Census Jean is the only one left. There is no address listed, just Fishkill. Jean died in 1957. I would like to be able to find James date of death and find obituaries for James or John if there are any newspapers that have obituaries from that time period. I am not sure what type of farming they were doing but there was a brother in Canada who raised and sold horses so that could be their specialty. I have a picture of the house and could post it on a photography website or email it to someone off the mailing list if anyone would be willing to take a look & see if it was familiar. It was a large house on a hill with pillars. I would like to find out if it still exists because I would like to visit the area at some point in the future. Any information I could get would be appreciated. Sandra
