The information I gave you on Philip Schaad, Adam's brother, was from his birth record from the FHC film. It was my mistake to assume that he had to be the same Philip that appeared on the St Joseph's (Rochester, NY) records. When I recently reviewed my notes from that research, I found the notation that Philip Schaad, (born Feb 26, 1826 to the same parents as Adam Schaad), died in the parish of his birth on Feb 6, 1838. I'm sorry for the confusion, but I posted to the list as soon as I realized the error. Margaret(Schaad) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I think I have some good records for your searches. 1) Catherine Ramstetter Married Mathias Freidel on April 11th, 1858 at St. Joseph's Church Rochester - data from LDS films. 2) In 1870 US Census Catharine & Matthew Fridel live in Hammondsport and grow grapes. 3) Barbara arrives with her husband Anton (40), daughter, Regina (9), Maria (6) and son George (5). The History of Steuben County merely lists Martin as from Ruppertsberg in the Rheinpfalz -- which is where Anton and his father Gottfried are from. My Elizabeth Ramstetter was known by oral tradition to have been trained as a millnier in Hammondsport. The sole millnier in Hammondsport during this time is the sister of the farmer growing grapes to the Argus'. So there is no clear connection. I have tried to raise Margaret Schaad, who identified Apollonia for me about five years ago; she had the information on Phillip. No luck yet. R Thank you That is correct. My apology for omitting the word "little". It was Little Nine Partner Patent and Milan was purchased by Settler Johannes Rowe (a Rowe Ancestor of mine) from Robert Livingston. Milan is in the western part of that Little Nine Partner Patent. Pat R
Milan was part of the LITTLE Nine Partners Patent, a different patent from the Great Nine Partners Patent. Our site and map, here <http://www.rootsweb.com/%7Enylnphs/V0/index.htm>, should clear that up. And it's pronounced Mi-'-lan, with emphasis on the first syllable, and with a long "i". -R. Hi Ro, I'm related to both Schryver (a 1710 Palatine family) and Roosa from Holland. The info on the Long Island site is what I submitted some time ago on the Southard family. In the last few years, I've been delving deeply into DNA testing for genealogy and finding lots of good stuff, some of which may change the Southard origins quite dramatically. The Wordens are still on track, though, with the traditional Worden genealogy. I am curious, though, about your reference to the lady who died. Do you mean the Worden who compiled all the local records and did such a great job of it? I did have a conversation with her sometime ago and we could never find a link to her Worden family. She had not done a great deal of research on that line (isn't that strange?!) but was pretty convinced they were not related. Her Wordens may have immigrated more recently than Peter I and Peter II who came in 1637/8. I gather she was more interested in history than genealogy. My website is at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~dorisw. I'll bet we'll find lots of relatives in common. All the families we are talking about are in my mother's line. Her name was Isabel Coon Muller, so you can trace my lineage from her. Have a Merry Christmas and let me know if you find any ties between us! It seems to have the information you placed here for me. Perhaps you already know of it. I personally have not been on the Long Island site in some time. It is a wonderful site. My great great grandfather Anthony/Antony "Toto" Golden lived in the Roslyn > Hempstead > Port Washington area after coming to the US in the very early 1800's from Ireland. One of his sons, Thomas Tabor Golden (my great grandfather) moved to Hyde Park, NY and married a Schryver...which started what I know of my mothers family. I do know there are Montross and Worden's in the mix somewhere, but exactly where I can not tell you (through the Roger's and Hall connections). One of Samuel's wives...Isabell Quick is also related through marriage to my mom's family/her first husbands family of Roosa's. The late Mrs. ? Worden that did alot of research on the Worden's and many families of Dutchess Co. may have written of your Renselar Case. I do believe alot of her work is with the NY Genealogy Society in New York City. I think I even bought one of her cd's before she past away. (Though I did find some of it to be incorrect as far as my family is concerned.) You may also try contacting a Dr. David Roberts...he is on the Brooklyn/New York/Long Island rootsweb mailing lists. He posted Long Island newspaper articles where I found the death annoucment of my great great grandmother, Eliza (Curtin?) Golden's death at Hudson River State in 1891. He is very knowledgeable. http://www.longislandgenealogy.com/southard/fam00012.htm One day you and I will find our family connection...I know there is one there. Feel free to contact me if you want to treat ancestors...I am sure you have more knowledge than I. With 13 children in my mom's immediate family I have trouble connecting the dots. ROUGH RIDER FINDS YOUTH TOO SOFT by Bill Wertz, Associated Press Writer LAS VEGAS, N.M. (AP) Eighty-seven year old Jesse D. Langdon, one of the last surviving members of Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Riders, hasn't much use for the younger generation. "They're soft, haven't got any opinions worth anything," said the Spanish-American War veteran here for the Rough Riders' 69th annual reunion. Teddy Roosevelt and more than 600 of his Rough Riders gathered in Las Vegas in 1899 for the group's first reunion. They voted to meet annually until the last man died. Langdon, who lives in Red Oak, N.Y., is one of three known survivors of the famous cavalry group that Roosevelt led up San Juan Hill. Arthur L. Tuttle, 88, Salinas, Calif., and Frank C. Brito, 91, Las Cruces, N.M., now are too ill to attend the reunion. Langdon said that Roosevelt asked him only one question. "Can you ride a horse?" He said he was offered a commission as a lieutenant in the regular Army after his service as a Rough Rider. "I turned it down," he said. "The Rough Riders were a good group and I got along, but my Daddy told me the first time I swatted an officer in the regular Army I'd be in Leavenworth. And I would have, too, I'm that kind of guy." ***note this is Las Vegas in New Mexico, not Las Vegas, Nevada. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
