I have a very old and fragile "Dutch" printed Fort Family Bible, maybe the one mentioned in the will of Abram Fort, and a very old chair with rush seat, hand-lathed, family legend claims both of these pieces were from the Fort family, brought from Europe (Holland) c1660, where the family spent some years prior to coming to the NY colonies, and were definitely French Hueguenots. I am trying to ascertain who Jane A. I know she married Amos Wright and they moved to the Seneca County area of NY and than to Allegany County in 1818. She had a brother named James Mathews who was born about 1770 also from Duchess County. He was said to be a soldier in the War of 1812. He also moved at some later date to Allegany County. That is all I know of them and would love to learn more. Thank you. Florence Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. "Obituaries, Death Notices and Genealogical Gleanings from The Saugerties Telegraph" Volume 2, Does anyone know if this book is available for sale? try _www.hopefarmbooks.com_ (http://www.hopefarmbooks.com) in Saugerties. I was able to find the first 3 volumes on a cd for $29.75 with shipping if anyone else is interested. You need to search "Obituaries" to find this it does not come up under the title. But since the latest Vol 6 (I think) was $68 in book form that is a good buy. Thanks, Carol L. Heap

Friday last, Saugerties, Thomas Nertney, an Irishman, drowned, leaving a wife and two children." This would have been published in the Feb 23rd, 1855 issue. So I went to the 1850 Census reports (Ulster Co. NY) and found several Thomas Nortons, one born in Ireland. He as 35 years old in 1850 and his wife's name was Margaret (aged 30). Their two children were Edward (aged 9) and Catharine (aged 4) I don't know if this helps or not. Jim Elting Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
