    3. How early are these marriages? I am looking for one dated 2 Feb 1873. This would be my grandmother Cora Louisa Green and Robert Merritt Charles Lathrope. I have their 1891 divorce papers that give that date but not the place. Cora grew up in Poughkeepsie and Fishkill. I believe Dutchess Co. to be the most likely place for this marriage. If would have that marriage I would be most pleased. 3. Dear Pat, I would appreciate it if you could look any Crandall (Crandell, Crandal) marriages, births, deaths in Dutchess County. Also any Rhodes (Roads, Roades, Rhoades). I think that the first of my Crandall line was born in Dutchess County. Thank you very much. I also believe the first of these would be in the late 1700's. Thanks again. Pat, When you have a free moment would you check for Dickinson's? James P. Dickinson married Mary E. Rapelyea (spelled different ways) around 1842 Joseph Dickinson (Ibelieve James Father) James was born in 1820 & his sister Phebe was born circa 1814, so it would have been before that, I am looking for James mother's name & still trying to confirm that Joseph is James father so any tiny hint would be a help. Both James & Joseph spent time in both Dutchess Co. & Ulster Co. Thanks, Carol L. Heap

    1. [NYDUTCHE] Ryerson Family
    2. I am trying to locate proof of the parents of Stephen Ryerson who was born in Dutchess Co. 9 Feb 1763. In a family sketch in the History of Stokes Co., NC Vol. 1 it says: "The names of the parents are not known but the Ryerson family is an old one in New Netherland, the brothers Adrian and Martin Ryerson coming to New Amsterdam in the 1640s." Some online sources have suggested that Adrain and/or Martin could be his father but that is extremely doubtful unless the Adrian and Martin who came in the 1640s had descendants with the same names. I've never done research in Dutchess County and am not familiar with what sources are availabele for the period time I need. Your advice and help will be appreciated. Connie

I would suggest you write a letter to them for any information you may need on the location of the grave site. They will send you a copy of the burial card on file at the cemetery as well as the information. Also inquiry who else is buried in the same plot area. You find other relatives unknown to you. Also follow up at the public library for death notices this is a great source in finding other relatives. The cemeteries secretary quit but the superintendent answered my letter, so I know he will help you too.
