    3. Unless I am looking in the wrong place I do not find the cemetery listings available online. I do find a large number of call numbers and references to books, lists etc. but I would have to go to a LDS library to find them and actually have to wait until the films are available to see. If such cemetery lists for Duchess County are online, please let me know. The thing that I have found is that records in New York State have not been made available as readily as other places around the country. What good are records or documents if no one can gain access without jumping through hoops? Dean

    1. [NYDUTCHE] Re Appeal for Help
    2. Jean Snow
    3. Dean - Try the RootsWeb Dutchess County Web site - is that now USGenWeb, anyone? (I know some RootsWeb sites have left because of the difficulties with Ancestry's takeover of the lists). But each county has a site and volunteers put up information. Do try Cliff Lamere's website Albany and Eastern NY Genealogy http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~clifflamere/ He has a wealth of information there, which includes Dutchess County. Also, he's been indexing the old maps, the kind that show houses with owners' names - am not sure if they are up yet (or if your people owned houses). Also you might be able to look at Dutchess County maps at http://www.historicmapworks.com. They allow some free browsing. (very nice company! I've purchased several of their maps). Good luck and sympathies! I'm your age, and am also stymied by living in CA and not enough $$ to do necessary research! Jean

My step children are Britni and Derick Hasenkopf. Their mother, Barbara Lennon is your father's 1st cousin. I guess that makes Derick and Britni your second counsins. I have your line all the way back to John and his wife Deborah Newcombe. I have a copy of John's will. With the information I have you could join the Sons of the Revolution, if you are interested. John served in the 6th Dutchess Militia, Land Bounty Rights during the Rev. war and he signed the Articles of Association in Dutchess Co, indicating that he was a Patriot. I have looked for John's grave, but have not found it, although I am pretty certain he is buried in Acra cemetery, but his stone is lost. The land was acquired in April 1826 by a committee of men that included Cyrenus Lennon - your direct ancestor, and many of the early generation Lennons are buried there, including Cyrenus and his wife Mary Stoutenburgh. I do run the Genealogical website for Greene County and there is quite a few references to Lennons on there. www.rootsweb.com/~nygreen2 Do you or your family have any pictures of your grandfather, great grandfather etc? Barbara's family have nothing. Is there anything I can help you with? Sylvia Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: schofieldfamilytree_1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.dutchess/9727/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello All! My ancester Emily E Fitch was born in Clinton Corners. There is a lot of confusion about her family and I was wondering if someone could help me with this. Her father was Daniel W Fitch and her mother was Hellen Tover (Traver?). I know that Daniel and Hellen had other children, and Hellen either died young or divorced from Daniel because he ended up marrying a woman named Lucretia, whom I can't figure out either. Emily was born Mar 2 1859. She was living in NYC when she was married in 1879. The other children from Daniel and Hellen were: Ann Elizabeth, Sarah J, Martha A, Joshua, and G. P. Any help is greatly appreciated! If you need more info let me know and I'll provide what I can. Thanks! PS, Hellen had a sister Mary living with the family in Rhinebeck in 1850. 1. [NYDUTCHE] APPEAL FOR HELP
    2. DEAN V. DANNEWITZ
    3. For any of you subscribers who actually live in the area of Duchess County, New York, and particularly those who live in the area of Poughkeepsie, this is an appeal for help! Apparently the only way I am going to be able to trace the families of my Great Great Grandfather Abraham Pendlebury and his wife Elinor (Ellen) Fawcett is to ask for help from you. I am eighty years old, living in Florida, and cannot travel to personally do the research necessary in the way that the records of Duchess County requires. I have found that essentially you have to be able to precisely identify what records you need and pay a fee to copy them even if they turn out to be the wrong ones! To do this at a distance is just not possible. What I am looking for is any data, information, traces, clues or whatever on the families mentioned above. The information that I do have is that the Pendlebury family consisting of father John and mother Alice, and children Mary, Jane, Jacob, Elizabeth, Alice, Hannah and my Great Grandfather Abraham arrived in New York on the ship Echo in April, 1842 from Liverpool. There is evidence that the family went to Poughkeepsie, N. Y. because I have found and confirmed that Abram (sic) married Ellen Taucet (also sic), both of Poughkeepsie on 10/13/1845 and the pastor was Rev. A. F. Palmer, but the church is not cited. This came from the 10/15/1845 issue of the Poughkeepsie Telegram. But there is apparently no evidence of either the Pendlebury family or the Fawcett family which consisted of Thomas, wife Margaret, George, Thomas, Jr., Elinor (Ellen), Mary, and William. I cannot find them in any of the census data available, probably because they were there between the census's of 1840 and 1850. But they must have left some traces somewhere. I have found the names of Jacob, Elizabeth and Mary in the 1850 census, but what happened to the parents and the rest of the family?? I would welcome help in trying to find this information which could be in listings or directories, cemeteries, vital records of births, deaths, burials of that period, including cemetery records which may even show where my Great Grandfather was buried. Please contact me. Dean V. Dannewitz

Actually, in those 10 years I have amassed a HUGE amount of information on John Lennon and his descendants. He did die here in Cairo, Greene County, where I live, on March 7, 1927. I was also a partiot in the Rev. War. What is your connection to the family?
