To: countylegislature@co.dutchess.ny.us Sent: Tuesday, August 26, 2008 4:52 PM Subject: The Keeper's House - DC Eastern Dutchess Service Center Property - Former DC Poorhouse Dear Chairman Higgins and ALL Members of the Legislature (with special attention to Legislator Horn), [Please forward to all members of the Legislature] Please permit me to take you on a trip down Memory Lane - not that far - only about 4 years ago. See Attached Minutes from October 13, 2004 - with special attention to the following references: The undersigned and Resolution #204241 A & B. ----------------------- Discussion on the foregoing Resolution No. 204241B resulted as follows: Legislator Horn stated that she intended to amend this resolution to include verbiage that if or when demolition of buildings at the Infirmary site would be considered that they first be reviewed by the Legislature. She added that, however, the eastern Dutchess County government services feasibility study does contain such language and it does have the ability and obligation to review the demolition so the amendment would be unnecessary. Chairman Kendall stated that it was adopted County Policy. Legislator Tyner questioned if anyone had this language. Chairman Kendall stated that the legislation was available through the Clerk's office. Legislator Keller-Coffey questioned if these buildings had historical significance. Roll call vote on the foregoing Resolution No. 204241B resulted as follows: AYES: 25 NAYS: 0 ABSENT: 0 Resolution adopted. ----------------------- Also attached are images of an OPRHP Letter dated Nov. 17, 2004 addressed to Co. Executive Steinhause addressing the Historical Significance of the buildings at this site. As of this morning I was informed that the Keeper's House (see images attached) is scheduled and being prepared for Demolition. You will see that the process is already underway - notice the holes in the roof the boarded up window and the pile of debris in front of the porch on the right - also notice electric service appears to be cut and the meter removed. Photo's taken August 26, 2008 - Who is Palumbo Group who has a construction trailer on site? When did the Legislature approve this? I will not stand idly by while our County Executive and His Comm. of Public Works run roughshod over our history. Your input and comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank You in advance for your time & consideration. I look forward to any and all responses. Virginia A. Buechele Poughkeepsie (845) 452-6417

    3. Thank you for the explanation but I have to ask, why is it like that? I subscribe to numerous lists - so many I cannot keep track of all of them. You would think that there would be a way to avoid this sort of thing other than hitting someone over the head with a 2 by 4. Too many list seem to hold their existence close to their chests as though they are afraid to let go with something they have found. Thanks again. Dean

This is the correct Hannah Ogden that I am researching. I believe she is the mother of my GGGG Grandfather Desmond Ogden Benjamin. One of his obituaries says he was half brother to Darius Ogden Mills the multi millionaire of New York. I found out Darius' mother was Hannah Ogden. So I am assuming this must also me Desmond's mom. What I do not know is who Desmond's dad is. That is my brick wall. I am thinking that maybe perhaps he died young maybe in the War of 1812. Desmond was born in 1808. I thought maybe your databases may show a marriage for her and the father of Desmond a ??? Benjamin.. The marriage record for my Desmond showed he was from North Salem, Westchester Cty, NY which is also where Darius was born. I am thinking since Hannah was from Dutchess County that perhaps the Benjamin she married was also from that County. This Anna Ogden may very possibly be Hannah's sister. I will have to research that name further. Do you know what kind of birth/baptism records for Dutchess County for the time period of 1808 exist? It says "his great-grandfather was James Mills, whose home was in Dutchess County, NY, married Hannah Ogden, a member of a Colonial family, distinguished for its major roles during the Revolutionary War." Ogden b 1884 RI, grandfather Darius Ogden Mills m 1854, so maybe we can extrapolate an approximate date of Hannah's marriage from that info. 3. Vicky, thank you very much for this information. Thanks for your help on this Donna -----Original Message----- From: nydutche-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:nydutche-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of gc-gateway@rootsweb.com Sent: Monday, August 25, 2008 10:44 PM To: NYDUTCHE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [NYDUTCHE] Justice of the Peace marriage records, northern Dutchess 1745-1775. At the Dutch Reformed Church, Fishkill NYG&B Vol 83 p 99 Daniel Pine and Anna Ogden married 07 Nov 1790. Just thought I'd pass this along in case you didn't have it already!
