My Great Grandmother Elinor or Ellen Fawcett Pendlebury left Poughkeepsie with other members of the Fawcett family and moved to Wisconsin. A daughter Mary Ann was born in Wisconsin. I have yet to find any evidence that Abraham Pendlebury went to Wisconsin with them. Elinor filed for divorce for dissertion and there is no record of Abraham trying to defend the case. I have a copy of the divorce decree written by hand and no mention of the presence of Abraham is apparent. It could be that the family deserted Abraham because there is evidence that he had consumption (TB). I found he tried to enlist during the civil war in New York and was discharged because of consumption. I is reasonable to think that he may have stayed around Poughkeepsie because he did have other brothers and sisters, named Jane, Mary, Elizabeth, Jacob, Alice and Hannah. They must have lived in or around Poughkeepsie after coming from England in 1842. But for some r! eason they do not appear in any Federal census records that I can locate.
