Am researching my ggg/grandmother, Catherine DeGroat (DeGroot, DeGrote). She was born around 1770 in either Albany or Westchester County NY. She married Rev. William A. Hallock in 1794, it is believed in Albany County, Cortlandt or Coeyman Patent. In 1800 the migrated to Elizabethtown, ONT. Rev. Hallock was one of the first minister of the Wall Street UM Church. Catherine's parents were Staats and Mirium. William's parents are unknown due to him becoming orphaned at age 10. Their first born in listed as Catherine in 1803. However, on the 1805 census of Elizabethtown, there are three other children listed; Staats, James and Rebecca. These children were never listed prior to this census. The Hallock Family shows up in many of the Ontario census. William passed away in 1836 and after that no records are shown of Catherine. Would like to know if Staats is her father, where did these three children come from all of a sudden, and date of her passing. However, I will ! be happy with any information I can garner on any of the above. Thank you Bev - MI
