Although my particular interest is in DOUW SLINGERLAND and his wife RACHEL (nee BOGART), the Slingerlands may have been in New York state before 1800. She was born in 1809, so that fits, but.... Need some advice, please. Heidi iamhydee@aol.com

    3. Hi all, My daughter, Abigail, has been building (with a little help and coaching) a New York genealogy site up that has a discussion board. She sure could use some help if anyone wants to add their New York queries and discussion to the board to kick it off. This is her first site and I hope that she will feel encouraged to do more. The URL is http://www.nygenealogy.com Please pass it on to your New York researching friends. Thanks, Bill Cribbs GenealogyBuff.com http://www.genealogybuff.com

    3. Hi Cathy, The first Slingerland family was Teunis Cornelise and Engeltje Albertse Bratt. They were married in 1662. Teunis was born in the Netherlands in 1631. I have a Rachel Bogaart married to Teunis W. Slingerland on 31 May 1777. Rachel died before 1792. They had a son Douwe who was born 4 April 1782. I do not have any other information about him. You might find more information on the Dutch-Colonies List. Richard From the Shores of Grand Traverse Bay
