    1. [NYDUTCH] Plue & Parliuman
    2. rabbitnap
    3. Hi, I'm doing research on the Plue family. and also something that sounds like Parliuman (my great aunt can't remember how it was spelled). Alfred Plue was born abt. 1886 and died abt. Feb 1969 Rosetta Parliuman was his wife. She was born abt. 1893 and died abt. 22 Oct 1970 I found them in the 1930 census living at 456 Colonel Street in Albany. His cousin Ervin and his family lived two doors down at 258. A few years later they all moved (both families) to Voorheesville, NY. Our family does not remember anything about their past except that they both may have immigrated as they had an accent. I've been told they didn't speak much about their past. They were from Holland. We know that Plue is not the original name either, but was changed because it was too hard for people to pronounce. Thanks, Leah

    3. Hello-I'm researching the Houghtaling family in Delaware Co., New York. My ancestor, John Houghtaling, was born Feb. 1, 1814. He had a brother, Nathaniel, born in 1808, probably in Greene Co., New York. John married Marilla Hinson. They moved to Candor Twp., Tioga Co., New York, and later to Tuscola Co., Michigan. Nathaniel also moved to Tuscola Co., Michigan. Does anyone have any information on Houghtalings in Delaware Co.? Pam S.

    1. [NYDUTCH] ROLL CALL: VAN OMMEN -- Holland > Cayuga County, NY
    2. Bill Hart
    3. About a year ago, I knew next to nothing about my gg-grandmother Elisabeth VAN OMMEN. I knew she was born in Holland. And I knew she married Richard HITCHCOCK and had children. I didn't know when she was born. I didn't no where she'd died. In fact, the only way I knew her surname at all was because it appeared on the death certificate of my great-grandmother Frances Hannah (HITCHCOCK) MARKS. That began to change when I decided to find out everything I could find out about van Ommen's in Cayuga County, NY. There wasn't much... at first. But that's a long story. And it didn't seem to help that the family surname changed spellings at every Census. And once all the pieces had been collected, I had a possible family for my gg-grandmother - father, Charles, brother Albert, and sisters Catherine TOWERS and Helen TATE. All that remained was to prove it. With the unexpected help of a cousin in Holland that I never knew I had and following a cross-country trip to Auburn, NY to honor the memory of my gg-grandfather and his service to his adopted country, I've put the following together on the chance I might find other cousins who are likewise looking to knock down a brick wall in their family history. Any additions and/or corrections to this list that was only a dream less than a year ago are most definitely welcomed. Census reports should be the backbone of your research. I do note that there is a John J. Peaster in the 1850 census in Nassau, Rensselaer County. And a Peter vandeBogart in Copake, Columbia County. Subsequent census will narrow down for you the death dates of these people; you may be fortunate and find in-laws or siblings living close; earlier census reports may indicate relationships with other Peasters/van de Bogarts.

    2. Rolfsmith -- could even be as far out an idea as she was Mrs. Rolf Smith or Wid. Rolf Smith (Ralf or Ralph) and over time/transcription it got smooshed. Old marriages sometimes referred to a widow by reference to her previous husband instead of her OWN name. Note: sometimes a name gets so messed up, you just have to search on a first name... Or just start scroll thru all records....
