Hello to All of You, I was reading your thread about the surname Weedijk. I am doing my husband family history and we are Wedyke. In my search I have found my husbands gggrandfather spelled his name Wiedijk. I was wondering if any of you have the following names in your line. Joris Wiedijk - this is my husbands gggrandfather Jannetje Wiedijk - my husbands gggrandmother Dirk Wiedijk - my husbands ggrandfather They came to America in 1846 from the port of Rotterdam to the port of New York. I do not know how long they stayed in New York but they settled in Michigan. I was just curious to see if the Weedijk you have in your line could be any relation. I have found so many spellings for Wedyke. Thank you, Kathy Kathy Wedyke Library Director Deckerville Public Library 3542 N. Cathy, Indeed. I have all the Provos but hadn't done marriagess of Susan's siblings. But, it was easy to find. They (Petrus and Johanna) emigrated in 1854 from Cadzand and settled in Williamson. They had two children, Jacob and Elizabeth. My guess is that Ed was the son of Jacob. The De Die and Carlier farms adjoined in the census. Ed used to come to Christmas dinners at the extended Carlier (Collier) family celebrations. I remember him at Everett and Mary Colliers in the 50's. Cathy, if you have more on Susan's siblings, I'd love to have it. Another mystery, my mother always said we had De Lyser cousins who moved to Sheboygan, WI. Maybe they had Provo connections as well. Thanks so much for solving this little mystery. IF anyone has ready access to census for NY for after the 1870, perhaps we could find the birth of Ed and prove his parentage. Hello Everyone, I noticed that someone had a Weedijk in their family history and my husbands family spell it Wedyke I am sure it might be a variation of Weedijk. My husbands ggggrandfather spelled it Wiedijk and he came over to America at the port of New York in 1846. The end up in Wayne County, Michigan Grosse Point Township. His name was Joris and his wife was Janette ( I don't think that is spelled write) their children were Dirk, Klaas and a Guutnja(I know I am spelling this one wrong also. I know it had two u's in the book I found them in but someone told me it should be two e's). If anyone on this list has a Weedijk/Wiedijk/Wedyke and would like to see if we have any ties please email me at deckpl@thumb.net Thank you, Kathy Wedyke Library Director http://www.deckervillelibrary.com http://www.usgennet.org/usa/mi/county/sanilac/ Deckerville Public Library ----- Original Message ----- From: "Cathy Collier" <Cathyclerk@cfl.rr.com> To: <NYDUTCH-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, June 06, 2002 10:25 AM Subject: Re: [NYDUTCH] Re: Weedijk > Wendall, > > Petrus DE DIE married Johanna PROVO, sister of Susan PROVO, who as you know > married Jacob CARLIER.
