    3. Carol, Thanks for the tip, unfortunately the online census available through Volusia County Florida Library system does not allow for wildcard searches. Whenever I have tried the use of an "*" I get a no results answer. I have used the no surname with census year, state, county etc. to good effect elsewhere. Using Wilbur I did not find any hits in 1910 and it would not work 1900 and before as he was 30 in 1920 and would be too young to be a head of household. ----- Original Message ----- From: <CMMEADOWS2@aol.com> To: <nydelawa@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, October 23, 2006 8:11 AM Subject: Re: [NYDELAWA] Roll Call Demilt-Response to Marty Bacon > > Hi Marty, > > When I hit a census problem where the surname could be transcribed in a > number of different ways, I then enter the first name and the birth year +/- 5 > years and the state of birth and the first few letters of the surname followed > by an asterisk ... in the case of this family, I would enter dem* and the > other information and see what kind of results I get.
