    1. Re: [NYDELAWA] Roll call - Gray, Taylor, Petrie
    2. Patty, Alexander Gray and his wife Ann were born in Scotland between 1770 and 1780. Family tradition says they were from Paisley but I haven't been able to verify that. I have searched Scottish parish records for Alexander Grays born in that time frame - there are more than 100! Also have searched marriages but have found nothing conclusive. Of course, they may have been married in New York. In fact, they may have come to NY as children. That would make a relationship to Jenny Gray, m. 1780, Dutchess Co., possible but a longshot. Alexander and Ann's eldest child married Hiram Taylor (estate papers, AG 1835). Her name may have been Phebe. The Taylors (Ichabod, Luther, et al) had land adjacent to AG. Another child, Catherine, married Duncan Petrie. After Alexander's death, Ann lived in Marbletown, Ulster Co., first with the the Petries and then with James McCool. Alexander's son, George Alexander Gray (my gggrandfather) pops up in Will Co., Illinois where he married Mary Monteith in 1845. There was a Daniel Gray who came to NY in 1775 from Bredalbin, Scotland, with 3 children. Later, there was a Daniel Gray in Delaware Co. Do you have anything on Daniel? This has been a wonderful series of e-mails. Thanks for your interest! Susan
