    3. Hi Everyone, I thought that it would be a great idea to do a roll call. Maybe we can break through some of those brick walls? Remember to change the subject line to the surname that you are researching. A date and location is also helpful in the body of the message. Remember that posting queries on the website is also a great idea. Thanks, Rene' NYDelaware List Administrator NYOtsego CC NYOtsego Message Board Administrator

    2. Teresa T
    3. Hello, My name is Teresa Tierney and my Mom, Betty Tierney and I are trying to find out information on the Davis Family. My Grandpa was James William Davis, he was born on May 5, 1905. His first wife was Margaret Davidson, b: 1903 and died 1937. James re-married in 1939 to Margaret Elinor Chambers and continued to have more children. James' father, we discovered via a social security administration application was Edwin Davis, and mother was unknown (on the application). We are fairly certain that his mother was Bertha/Brenda Davis whose mother was Adeline Lord. In 1910, Grandpa (James William Davis) lived with his cousin, Leo Litts (father: Alfred Litts); his uncle, Oscar VanValkenburg; and Charles Davis (on the census as a hired man). If anyone has information on Edwin Davis and his parents; siblings; anything at all, please contact my Mom (Betty Tierney) at mswiggles@verizon.net or me at this e-mail address. We were just there in Delaware county doing research and going around to the cemeteries. My Mom placed an ad in the Walton Reporter in the classified section to run in September. Some of you may have seen it. Thank you. Rene' wrote: >Hi Everyone, > >I thought that it would be a great idea to do a roll call. I was told on one of the PA lists that a lot of families moved from Delaware Co., NY to Crawford Co., PA around 1800 or so, plus or minus 20 years. Does anyone know of any Pierces that might have lived in Delaware Co., NY, and moved to Crawford Co. PA somewhere around this time?? Thanks, Linda Pierce Moore benlinda@flash.net

    3. Hello to all and thank you, Rene' for taking this on. My gggrandfather, Henry Robson, arrived in Bovina, Delaware County about 1820 with his parents, no parents names, no siblings. His first two children were named John and Christa, second two were named after his wife's parents so this may be a clue. A John Robson was on the 1820 census, one wife and one son. In 1830 John was gone but Henry was with his family just down the street from where John was, but no older parents. The United Presbyterian Church, Bovina Center listed a John and Christiana Robson as 'members before 1886' and not listed as dying. No other records of John and Christiana anywhere else nor of course, a connection to Henry. Henry claimed he was born in Guisborough, England. Henry's wife was Janett Crawford, daughter of Robert Crawford and Isabel Forsythe. Isabel and Robert arrived in Schenectady County before 1803 when their first child was born. Robert died before 1810 leaving Isabel with 3 little children, she went to Delhi to be with family and married James Brown. No record of Robert's death or his parents. Isabel came from Durisdeer. Dumfrieshire, Scotland. On Oct 14, 2006, at 10:00 AM, Rene' wrote: > Hi Everyone, > > I thought that it would be a great idea to do a roll call. 3. Hello, Rene and welcome! My brickwall is my great grandmother Elizabeth Juanita Blacklock McAdams who died in Walton, Delaware County, NY on November 5, 1920. Although it is not that far back I have been unable to get a death certificate on her. I have an obit that says she left 3 brothers and four sisters. None of their names are mentioned in the obit. Her childrens names are mentioned and I had earlier found birth records on them in Hamden, Delaware County, NY. The obit says she was born in September 1864. Three children's Hamden birth records state that she was born in Liverpool. She was married to Alexander McAdams and her children are Luella born 1889, William H. born, 1892, Leroy born 1894, Gertrude 1895, Nellie Mae born 1897, Margaret born 1898, and Sylvia born 1902. That is all I know. Because I cannot get a death record on her, I have no way to trace her back further. I know she is buried in Hamden Cemetery with Alexander, but I cannot get a burial record or other information. I might be able to find church records because a "Reverend G.M. McKnight" officiated at her funeral held at her home on Walton Mountain *from obit. Does anyone know what church he worked at? Thanks to anyone who can help. 2. Ann and Bob Frederking
    3. Greetings, Increasing the time I spent on these searches was supposed to be a retirement project. Now, almost 9 months post retirement, I still don't seem to have found the time to increase my genealogy time. But it will happen eventually. The family of my paternal grandmother (Caroline May Telford b. 1874) came from Delaware County. Her father's family were descended from William Telford and Elizabeth Clark who came to the US from Scotland sometime between in 1816 and settled in the Bovina area. I know a reasonable amount about them through family information though I've not yet found records to substantiate much of it. My grandmother's father was another William Telford, the grandson of William and Elizabeth above. His father was also named William which makes things a bit tricky. My grandmother and her parents went to California shortly after my grandmother's birth and returned to NYS after a short time. However, my g-grandfather went back to CA where he lived in the Fresno area until he died. My grandmother and her mother apparently lived with her sister Kate (who married John MacDonald) on the MacDonald farm in Delhi. I know less about her mother's side. Her mother was Caroline Covil (Covel, Covill), born in Roxbury 24 Sept 1843. Caroline's parents were: Edwin Covil (Covell), born June 19, 1812 in Roxbury and Araminta Wilson, born Oct. 11, 1813 in Colchester. Edwin's parents (Samuel Covel and Elinore Losey) were born in Cape Cod and in Dutchess County. How and when they got together and to Delaware County, I don't know. I know even less about Araminta's parents, Issac Wilson born c. 1787 and Esther Woolsey. This might the kicker for me to get out the information and ramp it up on the priorities list.
