Hi, I'm interested in your Kemp connection. My grandmother's sister, Marion Sutherland, married Rob Kemp. They had two children, Nell and Leslie. Neither married. Their farm was on what is now called Kemp Road near Meridale. They are buried in the Franklin cemetery as far as I remember. Catherine -- Thanks for your response, but I'm not much help with Kemps very far back or anywhere beyond my husband's close and slightly extended family. My Kemps come from Ohio, though, if that helps! F. Catherine: I'm trying to read through all the "roll calls" and saw your mention of the name KEMP in your query about the McKee family. My second great grandmother was a KEMP-- of the Kemp family from Kemp Road. Have you ever been in contact with Bernice Telian, the Town of Meredith historian? She, too, is a Kemp and has loads of information on the Kemps. Bernice wrote a book about the history of Meredith and as I recall there are several pictures of a Robert Kemp in the book. I have also heard her mention Marion Sutherland. My great grandmother was Alice SCOTT, daughter of Andrew and Ellen (Kemp) Scott. (Ellen was the daughter of David and Eleanor (McMURRAY) Kemp.) Andrew and Ellen Scott died within a few months of each other and their orphaned children (Alice, Vernon, Blanche, Rose and Grace Scott) were sent to live with assorted relatives. I have a copies of various guardianship papers-- Robert Kemp was named as guardian of my grandmother, Alice Scott.
