I think things like that often when I am recording things in my database. I know my parents did not know that they were 8th cousins once removed when they married. They only learned of it when I started doing my research. My parents are just that .... plus my 9th cousins. I think of the older generations often and how long they waited for an answer to a letter from a distant location, when I receive emails from Germany or Austalia almost instantly. Thanks to the computer and the Internet, I have found cousins I never would have located otherwise. Our ancestors would be in awe!
