    3. South Kortright was the home of Alice Throckmorton McLean, daughter of the copper baron of NYÇ. They were multi-nillionares. The estate was absolutely gorgeous. Alice entertained lavishly and it was in this home that I was introduced to Eleanor Roosevelt at a reception when I was a very young girl. I understand that the estate is now a facility for problem boys. Alice was the founder of the AWVS which became the WACS group in WW2.
