Hi Ray, I was surprised a couple of years back when I learned just how many folks from Delaware County moved west to Illinois - my own Shavers and Davises were no exception, though my own particular branch decided to head to Michigan. I did make it to Ogle County a few years back myself, and was quite impressed at the little library in Polo. I was the only patron for the entire 5 hours I spent there, so I pretty much had the librarian to myself. Their genealogy indexing of their old news items on microfilm was impressive, plus they also kept a surname log of everyone coming through hunting for their ancestors so that folks could contact each other. You are right about the cornfields! Polo is surrounded by cornfields that stretch as far as the eye can see. My time was limited as I was en route to Michigan to visit family, so I'll have to go back sometime to "head hunt" some more.......but maybe not until I've had the chance to see Delaware County for the first time and bug the librarians there! :) Kathy in MO ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com
