    3. Your cousin can get birth, death, or marriage certificates by means of a telephone request--rather than going in person-- provided the date you're looking for is after 1880. I just did this recently to obtain a death certificate for an ancestor. I called Julie Townsend, the Colchester Town Clerk, whose office is in Downsville (phone: 607-363-7169). She then sent me a form to fill out and return with a copy of my driver's license and a $10 check for the death c ertificate I requested. I received it about a week later! Very simple, prompt, user- friendly and all without leaving my home in Charlotte NC. 3. I have found that death records will give you more information than death certificates. 3. Good information to know. I'm in Canada and mailing things here can get expensive - especially since our $ is now worth 97 cents. Do you have any idea whether they are limited to mailing? Are the forms, perhaps, available in a pdf format somewhere?
