Hello all, Just a suggestion.My father's youngest brother, the last on his side, is dying of cancer.all though some what weak at this stage, his mind is still strong. We sat with him a few weeks ago, telling stories of my family, my father died just before I turned 9, his father just after he turned 9, and he is only 10 years older than I, so my youngest daughter called me aside and made a suggestion..we talked to him and he ran with it.we bought a miniature tape recorder, and started taping his stories and memories., he has filled a couple of the 60 minute tapes.some would be worthless to others.to us.as the ad goes.PRICELESS.I will have them transferred to cd and give out to the families.his stories of others will be long gone when he leaves, such a very sad loss of family information..give it a thought! Caution..I have photos that have been identified those that are not of my family I have been trying to return them to their families.or at least copies as I am not the owner of them as of yet.my Uncle is.and I won't release them until his passing.I have made 4 x 6 photo quality copies and mailed them to people who have requested a copy.at no time have I asked, nor will I accept payment for this.to me getting the people back in touch with a picture of a loved one who most likely passed on, cause most of these pictures are 60 or more years old.is more than worth the cost.now I have had to resort to putting on the pictures and writing on the back, "Original held by____". Someone contacted me through this list about a picture that I have, they knew the person and the family well, wanted to return it to them, they would make sure it got there!.upon getting the information of where to send the picture and such, I received another email, forward from some one else that was also looking for that family, with a copy of the correspondence from the 1st person who contacted me.that person, not only had no idea where these people were, they hadn't seen or heard from them in over 30 years.if they knew them at all...and also now lived about 1500 miles from Delaware County, again if they lived there at all!!! I tried to contact them, looked the name up on the Delaware list, and they are not listed there., and now my email is returned, server doesn't know that person..! I wonder if people are trying to contact people such as myself and then selling these pictures to the families? I am very happy that the person who really was related got the original picture from me! Sorry this was so long winded.but the Ackerly thing brought this up again and I thought I might want to inform ya'll.
