Jeff - I don't know if this ties into your Nehemiah but -- Jonathan Carley, an early settler in Sidney, Delaware Co., in 1795 -- He was born in Wilton, Fairfield in 1757. The father of the family died in 1758, wife remarried but children were taken by grandparents, John and Sarah Sherwood Carley, - Sarah was the daughter of David and Sarah Meeker Sherwood - and relocated in The Oblong - what was then Duchess County, NY -- Jonathan married a Jenny Gray in 1780 at what was then called Frederickstown. The Gray family had also come out of Fairfield Co about the same time as the Carleys. I have not been able to find the parents of Jenny but if your Gray family was located anywhere near Sidney, it might stand to reason that there was a familial relationship or some degree.
