Hi Rene and Susan, I'm not sure how the Whitman's from Greene County are related to the Whitman's in Masonville. Wouldn't you think they were somehow related being it was such a small community. I read that Joseph Whitman came here from England at an early age, born around the 1790's, he died in 1870. He married Mary Maria (Polly) Boughton in West Durham, NY and settled in Oak Hill, NY. His son, Francis, was born in West Durham and had children born in the following towns, Hunter, Walton, and Hancock. Does Joseph Whitman fit into the Masonville Whitmans?
