    3. Good Afternoon, This is in response to the opinions/comments about Gatewayed messages. I opened the gateway to the mailing list when I took over the administration of the message board a couple of months back. The reason the gateway was closed to begin with was because there was a problem with gateways when the new mailing list system was brought in. Then after things were fixed, I could never get a response from the person who adminned the message board, when he left, I took over, and I changed it back to the way it used to be. It is my feeling that the board and mailing list go hand and hand. Some people prefer to use the message boards, more one on one discussion. Some prefer the daily mail. Either way everything that gets posted is supposed to deal with one subject, and that subject is Delaware County NY, whether it be the towns in it or the people that lived, died or moved through it. As you can see there was some help to be gotten from either from the board or the list, both helping each other. It is important to note, that when answering a gatewayed message, you MUST go to the link in the mail to answer them back. The email address "gateway" does NOT exist. It only exists as a generic address because ancestry deemed it necessary due to privacy laws. Those who post to message boards are not always aware that their email was also going to some lists. I hope that because this is an extra step in replying that those of you who can help will continue to do so, I would hate to think that because it is an extra step of clicking a link instead of reply, that someone does not get the information they seek. After all we are all on this list to help and receive help, right? Anyway, until I give up being the administrator of the board or the mailing list, this is the way it is going to stay. If anyone else has any comments or opinions, please email me directly, do not post them on the mailing list. My email address is nydelawa-admin@rootsweb.com Thank You, Rene' list administrator

    3. Rene' I think you made a good choice. The instructions at the foot of the gateway messages are quite clear and if one reads them there should be no confusion. I for one find the gateway material quite useful. 3. Rena, I like it the way it is doing a great job find it interesting. My experience on another board one person was sending 50 + messages a day on civil war records it was just to much having dial up service at the time took forever to download all the messages had to unsubscribe from it. What I have done is have several email address one for general use one for club use others for dictated people I also use a long email address with letters and numbers so the spams do not get it there is spiders and robots getting email address. My new service permits 10 email address makes it great just have to change from to other. Enjoy the mail my ancestors lived in Delaware and Sullivan Counties.
