Still researching McKee's from Kortright -- Many thanks, Rene, for helping Joyce with the load of work -- thanks of course to Joyce for building and keeping up the web site -- also thanks to Patty Gaddis for her work with records from Gilchrist Memorial Presbyterian -- baptism records gave me the thrill of finding out about my great great uncle James Harvey McKee. who wrote the book Back in War Times, A Civil War Record of the 144th Regiment New York Volunteer Infantry. I hope to put together a narrative of his life and that of my great grandfather, who was the headmaster of Marissa Academy, pictured on the Marissa, Illinois historical/ genealogical web site. First, may I add my thanks to Joyce for having long managed this list and for her excellent web site, also my thanks to Rene for taking over the list management. I am looking for the parents of Elizabeth Burch, first wife of Abner Graves. Abner was born in Hillsdale, Columbia Co., NY, in 1769, and I don't know if he married Elizabeth in Columbia Co., or if it was after he moved to Delaware Co., NY. They had one daughter, Anna, then Elizabeth died, and Abner then married Catherine Couse. Besides Elizabeth's parents, I am interested in any information about Anna. All I know is that she is said to have married Samuel Hamblet (son of Samuel and Naomi) -- I have no birth or death date, no evidence of the marriage. Vesti, I knew there were other members of the family on here, just couldn't remember who! I do have a photo of Lizzie with her daughter Elizabeth McAdams Misner, but I would love a copy of one with Anthony and if Grandpa is in it that would be a major plus! I am also looking for a photograph of Lizzie's brothers, Jacob Young (lived in Corbett and died in 1955), John Young who lived in Hancock Twp near Acidalia and Lansing Young. If you know of anyone who might have photos of them I would sure appreciate it if you could put me in touch with them! Thanks so much! I am looking for the family of Stephan and Catherine Hunt, who appear in the 1850 census in Middletown, Delaware County. Stephen is shown to be about 62 years old(born 1788), his wife Catherine is shown to be about 33 years old (born about 1817). They are listed with their children, Mary Jane, James, Daniel, and Sarah Mariah (Sarah is one of my ggrandmothers) According to the 1865 census she was born in Delaware county. At the time of the 1865 census she was living in Tompkins. I am specifically interested in verfication that Stephen's father was Daniel Hunt. I have long suspected that Catherine was not his first wife, but I have no proof of this. I have absolutely no information on Catherine other than the fact that according to the 1865 census she was born in Dutchess county. A few years ago I borrowed the 1855 census for Delaware county from the LDS and spent considerable amount of time reading it and did not find either Stephen or Catherine in it. According to ! the fam ily of Catherine's last daughter - Lucinda she was born in Ulster County, New York in 1850. I have a feeling this might not be correct. Catherine had 3 husbands before she died in 1884. She is listed in the 1860 census as Catherine Dickerson living in Neufield, Tompkins county and shows as a widow. Her son by ???? dickerson had not yet been born when the census was taken. By 1865 she is still living in Neufield and once again shows as a widow with 1 child form 2nd marriage and 2 children from 1st marriage living with her.
René and Joyce, you are heros. Research takes much dedication. Yours is appreciated. Thank you. Still searching for information on these ancestors: George W. Nichols b. 1824 & Mary Ann Van Vradenburgh son Chester M. Nichols b. 1862 married Hattie Lenora Crumb daughter of David H. Crumb b. 1843 [Civil War Vet] and Jerusha Ann Collar. Jerusha's parents were Asa Collar b. 1807 & Catharine Skinner. Are there cousins still in Delaware Co? Any help or info would be greatly appreciated. I understand there is a publication of Civil War Historical Addresses & Reminisecences which I can not find. I have a presentation poster for David Henry Crumb dated Aug 15, 1895 in Sidney which I think relates to this book. Perhaps someone knows a library or book store where I can locate it. Betty

Hi Everyone, Yes, in case you have missed it as Joyce stated announcements were made about the change in list administration. My name is Rene' Treffeisen, I live in Otsego County, bordering Delaware. I have many relatives coming from Delaware County and have done quite a bit of research regarding Delaware. I am also currently the NYOtsego county coordinator for the Otsego website, and I also administer the message board for Otsego. I do all of this in my spare time. : ) I have 3 young children who also take up a lot of my time, but in between, I can do something which I found I really love, and that is researching my family and helping others to do so. As you all know the rootsweb lists have undergone some changes, there are some bugs still being worked out, so please have patience and if you are experiencing a problem, please let me know and I will do all that I can to correct it. Some have complained that their mail has changed from the digest format, if you are experiencing that problem please let me know. If you wish to change from receiving all emails to digest, let me know. This is not something that I changed, but a bug in the system. I plan on running the list the same way that Joyce did, I'm a pretty easy going laid back person, but will step in if needed. In other words keep the list on topic as much as we can. If you wish to unsubscribe, please don't post it to the list. I cannot guarantee that I will see your request, and you will then continue to receive unwanted mail. To unsubscribe email NYDELAWA-request@rootsweb.com, put the words unsubscribe in the subject line and in the body of the email and send, you will be immediately unsubscribed - unless rootsweb is having technical difficulties that is. I want to thank everyone for their kind welcome, and now lets get on with our research. PS, thanks everyone for posting to the roll call, may we knock some walls down!
