Evelyn, In the book I mentioned previously there is a story about John VanSteenburgh who died Jan. 5, 1884 aged 60 years, 1 month and 5 days and is buried in the Berry Brook Cemetery near Beaverkill, NY. Linda
Hi Evelyn, Have you seen the book "Beaverkill Valley - A Journey Through Time" by Joan Powell and Irene O'Keefe Barnhart. Lots of VnaSteenburgh's, Sprague's, etc. in there. Do not know if these are the ones you are looking for but it's a great book and contains lots of info. Linda (Ogborn)

Is there any record in the Delaware County websites of the burial of Elihu Fuller, died in bovina June 21, 1848. I had expected it would be in the Brush cemetery where his son, Benjamin is, but do not find it. I'd like to know where it is? Thanks, Forrest L. Carolee thanks for advising us fellow researchers on the needs of the Walton Ogden Library after the flood. I, for one will take up your challenge by sending a check at the end of this week. It was good to hear from you again and will send them a copy of the Delaware County Signor's for their records, once it's edited. Thanks for your assistance in my research and have moved to AL from VA and miss going to the National Archives. Alan
Thank you for your reply but they do not belong to the family I am researching, as my Demelt lived in NY and CT, where one of the sons, my have died.
Am interested in Whitneys. My GGGrandmother was Elizabeth Whitney, born in Delaware Co. abt. 1832. Her death record says her father was Joseph Whitney. She was married to James Judge Ballard. Do you possible have any info on this family? Sure would appreciate anything you have. Prudence was the daughter of Brookins Miller Carley and Lydia Ann Ellis. Brookins was born August 22, 1805 in Delhi, Delaware, NY and was the son of Joel and Mercy Bouton Carley, who was the son of Abraham and Susannah Brookins Carley - the Abraham of Green Mountain Boy fame -- Abraham was the son of Mariner William Carley and Mary Bowden - they were married in Boston in 1703 by Cotton Mather. Mariner William was the son of Capt. Henry Carley/Kerley and his second wife, Elizabeth Ward, widow of John Howe, Jr of Marlborough, Middlesex, MA - Henry was an officer in the MA Bay Colony and the son of William Kerly, the Immigrant, b. @ 1598 in Ashmore, Dorset, England, and his 1st wife, Ann White. Capt. Henry's first wife, Elizabeth White was killed in the Massacre at Lancaster in Feb. 1676 - her sister Mary White Rowlandson, a captive during the same incident, wrote a diary of the event and it is published in the History of Lancaster -- on line - I have been researching this family for several years and have just returned from a trip to Maine for research and to meet others of this family -- which is connected in so many ways to the history of York and Scarborough, Maine - Sudbury, Lancaster and Marlborough, MA - Fairfield, CT - Dutchess Co, Saratoga Co, Delaware Co, Montgomery Co, Oneida Co, Tompkins Co, NY - to IL, Ohio, WI. Abraham was the brother of John Carley who married Sarah Sherwood, daughter of David and Sarah Meeker Sherwood -- John also had a son Abraham who married a Susannah Jackson, daughter of Ephriam and Martha Blackman Jackson of Fairfield - this last Abraham was the father of Johnathan Carley who settled in Sidney with his wife Jenny Gray and children. Johnathan was a hero of the Rev. War, sustaining and surviving 19 musket ball wounds. If this hasn't put you on overload and you want more information - please contact me. Judy Schreiber Valdosta, GA

Yes, The name as been found as DeMilt, DeMelt, and DeMett. I don't know about NJ though. Mine have all been in NY so far. And I am back to 1810. They might have started in NJ but not sure about that. As for Harry, I have not run across him anywhere. ---------- Original Message ---------------------------------- From: "mbacon3" <mbacon3@cfl.rr.com> Reply-To: nydelawa@rootsweb.com Date: Tue, 17 Oct 2006 10:15:27 -0400 >Could Demilt be a variant spelling for Demelt? Looking for information on Edward Charles Burrows )Feb 1859-Oct 1931); First Wife: Ada Downs (1863-Aug. 1899); Second Wife: Frances Williams (Feb. 1886-Nov. 1955). Have compiled a lot of info but would like to find a picture of them if possible as well as locating some of their descendants, especially those children with his first wife, Ada. Thanks Linda (Ogborn)
