I am very interested in the migration pattern I've been finding from Scotland to the Catskill area for a few years during the Rev war (Clavarack, Lithlingo, and other towns in that area) and finally to either Delaware County or Canada. I'm also very interested in the ships that brought our ancestors to Delaware County - first through NY, then up the Hudson on a sloop to the Catskill area, and then to Delaware County. The early families would be McDonald, Rose, Thompson, Forman, Flint, Houghtaling, Clark, and Gay. Unrelated families with parallel migration patterns who also married into these families would be Cummings, Grants, Humes, Kedzie's. Have quite a bit on some of the families, but I'm trying to find details to pull it together. Some families have me stumped. Would like to contact others researching these families. My computer crashed, so I lost many old contacts and some information. 2. Rene'
    3. Hi Everyone, It has come to my attention that several subscribers with AOL email addresses are being unsubscribed from mailing lists. Please if this has happened to you, contact me. I am currently waiting for more details in order to help you. I too had noticed several members unsubscribing, but thought that this was due to the amount of emails that have been generated within the last week - some have stated that they don't like it. : ( Anyway, please know that I have not unsubscribed anyone without their consent, you would've had to contact me directly for me to do it. Thanks for your patience and understanding in this matter. Rene' NYDelaware List Administrator

    1. Re: [NYDELAWA] Roll call - Gray, Taylor, Petrie
    2. Patty, Alexander Gray and his wife Ann were born in Scotland between 1770 and 1780. Family tradition says they were from Paisley but I haven't been able to verify that. I have searched Scottish parish records for Alexander Grays born in that time frame - there are more than 100! Also have searched marriages but have found nothing conclusive. Of course, they may have been married in New York. In fact, they may have come to NY as children. That would make a relationship to Jenny Gray, m. 1780, Dutchess Co., possible but a longshot. Alexander and Ann's eldest child married Hiram Taylor (estate papers, AG 1835). Her name may have been Phebe. The Taylors (Ichabod, Luther, et al) had land adjacent to AG. Another child, Catherine, married Duncan Petrie. After Alexander's death, Ann lived in Marbletown, Ulster Co., first with the the Petries and then with James McCool. Alexander's son, George Alexander Gray (my gggrandfather) pops up in Will Co., Illinois where he married Mary Monteith in 1845. There was a Daniel Gray who came to NY in 1775 from Bredalbin, Scotland, with 3 children. Later, there was a Daniel Gray in Delaware Co. Do you have anything on Daniel? This has been a wonderful series of e-mails. Thanks for your interest! Susan

    3. Hello All . . . In addition to using the Table of Contents page of the Delaware County Website, I want to remind everyone that the Delaware County Website has a very useful search engine. There are multiple choices and combinations of choices to narrow ones search. Will recap here: Search our Site (entire website) Search Books Search Military Search Cemetery Section Search Vitals, obits, old news Search Queries ( a great way to pick up peripheral family names) Search Census Records Search Davenport, Fact and Fancy then you can choose Find ANY word Find ALL words Find EXACT phrase Information about using search engine can be found by clicking on the highlighted 'site search by pico search'. I suggest when starting to find something, start with putting in exact phrase. If that doesn't bring anything up, then go to one of the other methods. And, a final note - I do not guarantee 100% that I have all the pages coded correctly so that they turn up in one of the above categories. If anyone should find a cemetery for instance that does not come up in a search limited to 'Cemetery Section', please let me know and I will correct the situation. Thanks! J. She had said she thought he or his family came from NY. The 1920 was not available when I got the information. I looked him up tonight and found he was born in NJ but his father Wilbur P Demilt was born in NY with his parents born MI and NY and his mother Ethel D Wahl Demilt was born in NJ with her parents born NJ and NY. I don't know where in NY as I could not find them in 1900 or 1910 as Demilt, Demelt or Demett. I also tried Demill and others but no luck. 3. Yes, we did correspond and I have about same info that you do. I was curious where Edgar's other names, children went. He was an evasive "fella". Edgar and Francis (aka Fannie) were in the same household in 1910. Fannie's mother was Edgar's housekeeper. Three of Fannie and Ed's children were adopted out. 2. Patty Gaddis
    3. Hi Judy, Yes, we have been conversing about the two Joel Carley's and more. Looks like we have more names in common now. The only thing I have on Jenny Gray is what you've previously sent me. In searching my database of Gray's, I did notice I have a few different Gray lines in my tree. I have an Andrew GRAY married to Ellen NN with daughter, Sarah N (Nellie) GRAY, b. 1840 in Castine, ME. She married John PAGE of MA. Per another researcher, her death certificate states she was born in Castine, but Gray's of Castine do not recognize the names. John PAGE and Sarah GRAY had a daughter, Amy, b. 1867 in Boston, MA. Amy married Nicolas RODEMS in 1888 in Springfield, IL. That is where most of my lines are in IL. But, my husband's lines (Delaware Co included) were in Morgan Co. I also have a Lucie Mae GRAY who married Charles Raymond RODEMS, a first cousin once removed of Nicolas above. They were also in Springfield. For the CARLEY's in IL, my Elnora Marinda CARLEY, b. 1847 in NY and found in Tompkins Co census, was married to Lucas GADDIS in Knox Co, IL in 1867. I believe I have a copy of their wedding photo. They later lived in Bureau Co, IL through 1880. Although, she is buried in Knox Co in 1882. Her father, James Van Rensaleer CARLEY migrated to IL in 1850 with the family. Now for the MERWIN/MERVIN's. I have a Margaret MERWIN, b. 1803 in Ireland. She married Patrick SALMON in IL in 1853 and dies in Springfield, IL in 1892. I thought I had some other MERWIN's, but they aren't coming up in my search. Maybe I haven't entered them yet. I don't know anything about here except this. Who is Alexander GRAY? 2. Linda ... Have we communicated before? I was chatting with someone several months ago about this line ... Ada died in the County Paupers House in Delhi and is buried in the cemetery there ... I have a list of eleven children ... but can not find the family in 1880 which would have been thee years after she and Edward Charles ... aka Charles Edward ... Edgar Charles ... and Charles Edgar ... I do find in the 1880 Census some children with the same names and ages with the family of Ezra Burrows in Deposit ... but they are listed as sons and daughters ... and no mention of adoption ... I do find Edward with Fannie his second wife in 1910 and 1930 ... but in 1920 they are living separately ... he in Walton and she in Norwich ... he with son Thomas and she with daughter Pearl and son Nelson ... but no sign of Pearl's twin sister Pauline ... I have more ... John A Aiello Los Angeles, CA

My contact is from the Signor side, as Abbie was named after her mother, Abigail Signor Robinson in Mar. 1855 and her mother died in that year, bef. June when the NYS census was taken. Two of my g-g-aunts married into the Signor genealogy, as Martha Ann Rundle m. Albert, the s/o John Jacob and Lucy Hotchkiss Signor while later, Elvira Rundle m. Daniel Wesley, the s/o David Miller Signor. Have been tracing the Signor line for over 15 years and hence the connection to the Demelt family. Never locate them in the 1930 census and wonder what happen to the family. Contact me at joanduffy@netzero.com and will exchange info. Alan
